About
MOIWA Is Well Known Throughout Niseko As A Ski Resort With Historical Roots Going Back As Far As 1919. There Weren’t Any Ski Lifts At The Time, And Skiers Would Climb The Mountain For Many Hours Because Of The Exceptional Snow Quality, Abundant Snowfall, And Small Yet Wide Ranging Course.

It was my first time EVER to go on a winter holiday (I’m normally a beach baby), and I decided to learn skiing in Niseko. My first 2 x half day lessons were in Hanazono, and tho the western instructors were perfectly good for other students in my Group lessons, I decided I needed more of a one-on-one touch and learn at my own pace. My friends who are frequent snowboarders told me to try out Moiwa Ski Resort. The vibe was so different. Service was so warm from Japanese only staff who knew me by my name, that real feeling of “Omotenashi”: Japanese hospitality. The cost in cheaper than Hanazono, and my ski Sensei Yuji, who’d been skiing for 26 years as well as a mountaineer in Niseko, was experienced, patient, comforting and positive! I wish I had taken my first lessons with him. The slopes are also not busy, it has a retro vibe to it with nice music playing, and quite cool to see the Japanese military doing their parallel ski training in the morning as you ride the chair lifts. I cannot wait for the next season to come and continue learning to ski at this resort. Thanks again to all the Moiwa ski resort team and Yuji!

If Hirafu is too crowded, this is a smaller, simpler spot with almost no traffic. Easy access to glades and off piste runs. About 700m vertical versus 1,000+ at Hirafu but snow was excellent and we had a great time.

This lovely little ski resort is located in Moiwa next to Annupuri, has a limited number slopes but cover most ability levels. As other reviews have reflected, great for beginners. Although the number of runs is limited, it's certainly quieter than Hirafu and generally less crowded. Great if you have little ones.

Going here, we took the
JR train from SAPPORO TO OTARU station, (Hakodate line), ¥1,280 round trip per pax
JR OTARU to-Kutchan Station, (Hakodate Line), ¥2,140 round trip fare per person
Kutchan station-Niseko Moiwa via Taxi ¥11,980 round trip fare for for 2 persons

When we arrived at Moiwa, we found out that there's FREE SHUTTLE provided by the ski resort or bus. But there's only few schedules. So make sure to take note of the time to be save money. But since it's a last minute decision to go to Niseko, we just thought of going.

We got the 2hrs ski lesson from 1-3pm ¥24,000 for 2 persons
Ski equipment rental ¥6,000 per person.

Our ski instructor was Ayano who was very patient with us, being first time to ski. She's very skilled yet she was able to show and explain to us on the level we understand, as beginners. It was really a pleasant experience. Ayano made it such a wonderful experience for us. Thank you to the team.

The staff at the ski equipment rental were also very accommodating. I was really glad we chose this resort because of the excellent care they provided us.

More importantly, this ski resort is not crowded. such a pleasant surprise, with powdery snow. There's also restaurant avail just in front of the ski school/training.

I highly recommend Moiwa Ski resort even for first timers like us. we were well taken cared of, we never felt intimidated. A must do and visit when in Niseko.

Moiwa is a rather small three chair resort right next to and overshadowed by Niseko Ski Resort. It’s big draw is that it is hardly crowded and has very good side country skiing. Runs are short and can require a bit of hiking to access and a lot of traversing to get out of but it was eSier to find untracked powder there than in more crowded Niseko Ski Resort. A nice one day change from its big next door neighbor

We went here to mix it up a bit from Niseko. Had an absolutely fantastic time. So much so we returned the next day. Not a huge resort but really quiet and enough terrain to entertain you all day. The bus trip from Niseko was really speedy. Lots of powder runs through the trees. Will definitely return next year when we come back.

MOIWA SKI REBTAL.WAS A GREAT EXPERIWNCE. I INTWRVIEQED A BUNCH OF PLACES IN Hirafu but decided on here. I stayed at Lodge 834 and got a 10% discount. Kobayashi gives the best service!!! So accommodating and sweet. I wish he were my ski guide! The shop is lovely with very fast service. If you are staying in Moiwa, don't rent anywhere else. Even if you can order before from the big shops, this is where you want to be!

Let's first make a clear Moiwa is small in comparison to most ski resorts. So, the number of visitors, we counted 12 cars in the parking lot, so it is very much the feeling of a private resort. The terrain at Moiwa may be short with only 470 metres of vertical, but it’s very sweet because it’s generally quiet and devoid of any crowds. Now it turned out that the quad lifter was out of order for several days which unfortunately allowed us to tire and choose the ski bus to the neighboring towns. But what made us go on the smiles was a few off-piste lines through the trees, and the delicious backcountry that's a very short hike away.

Great place to visit when Niseko is too busy. Only 3 Lifts, but the quad chairlift offers more than enough options for at least a day. Even more so when there is fresh powder.

A small resort with plenty of skiing! Less crowded than the bigger close by. Amazing terrain for skiers looking for deep powder and beautiful nature. Easy access and well served by good lifts.
