We are a group of 10 freeride fans from Ukraine, and this season in 2020 Annupuri has become our favorite snowboarding area out of all the resorts covered by Niseko United.

Firstly, the hike to Annupuri peak is a great experience itself. It might be getting really windy on the way (it was -18 and wind when we were going up), but the outcome is definitely worth the effort.

The view from Annupuri peak is epic - you can even see the ocean if it’s not foggy.

The way down is a pure pleasure when there’s a fresh powdersnow. You first need to go down the ridge, and then proceed in a great forest.

100% recommended for all backcountry lovers!

The Annupuri Ski area is relatively flat, with many easy runs for beginners or intermediates. Those more advanced could go off piste but do be careful as the forest does get quite dense. There are plenty of lifts and the resort is easy to navigate.

Most lift assistants speak english and are very friendly. Would definitely recommend if you are looking to ski in the area.

If you are staying at any of the Annupuri village chalets, you can get a complimentary shuttle from the Northern Resort Annupuri to your chalet, if you take the resort liner from Sapporo aitrport.

Niseko is divided into 4 ski areas, Annupuri, Niseko village, Great Hirafu and the Hanazono.
In total around 30 ski lifts. plenty of green runs for beginners. Ungroomed slopes for adventurous. Skiing through the trees was bliss.

I would recommend an all mountain ski pass if you are an intermediate skier . Cost around 32000 for 5 days. If you are a beginner, you could buy a points base ski pass, where ski lifts are ranked in degree of difficulty and cost 370 yen per point. E.g. Gondolas 4 points and beginner lift -1 pt.

Granted that the ski area is small compared to vast skiing plains of Europe, the snow quality makes up for it. We had lovely sunshine and could see the top of Mt Yotei, which is Niseko's equivalent to mt Fuji! . We had plenty of snow ... a good couple days worth .....powder skiing which always a bonus.

What a lovely experience and well worth the 30 hour journey to visit from London!!

I come through this to present my sincere disappointments with a situation that occurred in the ski resort Niseko Annupuri Kokusai Ski Area, in Niseko city, Hokkaidō, Japan, for have been forbidden to use my Snowfeet equipment.

Today, 02/27/2021, I had a bad experience at the ski resort Annupuri, since I had been skiing for almost 4 hours and, at one point, an employee of the company that manages the ski resort simply forbade me to continue skiing, use the lift or ski on the spot, for the simple fact that I was not using traditional ski equipment.

Trying to understand the reason for the prohibition, I went to the office of the management company, where the employee Ichiji informed me that I could not use my “sunōfito” equipment because it does not have an edge, it turns out that Snowfeet is a safe equipment as much as any traditional ski equipment and it does have the edge referred, which allows braking and downhill control like any other traditional ski equipment; the only difference is that the snowfeet is smaller and has a support base for snowboarding boots and not for ski boots.

I showed the equipment to the ski resort administration staff who refused to see it or to talk to me rationally, limiting themselves to repeatedly repeating sentences that I should change equipment, without giving any reasons that contradicted the fact that my equipment has the edge requested by them and has the same security as any other ski equipment.

It should be noted that there is no report at the Annupuri ski resort, either in the form of signposts on the site, or on its website, that my equipment would be banning or the reasons for its prohibition.

Therefore, I would like to ask the staff of the ski resort management companies in Hokkaidō area, In Japan, to contact the company Snowfeet Japan, to clarify their doubts regarding the equipment, as apparently many people used false equipment and generated the impression that the original Snowfeet would not be safe to be used normally.

Annupuri is 1 of the 4 ski resorts that make up the "Niseko UNited" area the others being Hirafu Village, Niseko Village, and Hanazono. Annupuri is by far our favorite because

1) Its less crowded, has less people due to less transportation options and accomodation. Please keep it this way!

2) Good and affordable restaraunts especially at the base, and the queue's are not so bad

3) The gondola goes literally all the way to the top and accomodates more skiers, makes everything more efficient

4) Because less crowd and west facing, i find the powder here always the best

5) We are always with beginners and there are more moderate, wide "green" slopes here ofor them to practice.

Although we had an all access pass, we spent most of our time in Annupuri. The slopes were less crowded and the powder was far better than in Grand Hirafu.

Annupuri is the best slopes for beginners. It has the easiest terrain compared to the others. It also has night ski. This year has been great as there is really a lot of snow!

Annapuri has to be the prettiest and most Japanese out of the four Niseko united resorts. Wide open runs and a vast off piste area that seems never ending and the most powder out of the four resorts makes this place a definite favourite. It's also a great place to introduce novice skiers to tree and powder skiing as there are little areas just off the piste to ski between trees and powder.
To top this off on mountain food is definitely more authentic Japanese than the other resorts and of a better quality.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed skiing on the eastern slopes near the Grand Hirafu gondola and mountain center. The powder was as good as advertised and the runs were well maintained. Fellow skiers were well mannered. Support services were excellent including equipment valet services courtesy of Niseko Central and expert rentals from nearby Harro Sports.

Views attd below from our Yama Shizen West accommodation looking back to the lower slopes. Thank you Niseko Central.
