This waterfall is called the Man and Woman Falls and is the setting for the love story between Otome and Miyamoto Musashi by Eiji Yoshikawa. I don't know about Otome, but I think that samurai like Miyamoto Musashi and Yagyu who traveled around the country to train must have walked this path at least once. The flowing water provides a cool feeling during the hot summer months, so it's easy to imagine that it was a place of rest for travelers in the past. Wild hydrangeas bloom beautifully all around. If you climb up from the Metaki waterfall, you'll come to a road, so you can also access it from the road.

If you are walking on the Nakasendo Magome walking trail and pass the sign for the waterfalls, then please go there, it’s beautiful! It has been raining a lot in this area lately, so the cascades are totally full of water and very impressive to watch!

We walked a short bushwalk all downhill from past Magome post town to our Ryokan Hanaya near Tsumago Post town. There are two pretty waterfalls on the track, quite close to each other : Odaki ( male waterfall) and Medaki ( female waterfall).

Pretty spot, so here is a 360 picture.
A few kilometers away, there is a historical tea house you should not miss.
