 This meandering river of about 8 km is the life line for Paro.
 A powerful source of inspiration for poets and writers.
 Crisp, green & clean all over.
 Let us enjoy the emotional attachment with this river.
 Time flows like water in this river.
 Stare at the bluish uneven lines of landscapes that form a wonderful backdrop for this serpentine river.

I opened my hotel room window and listened to the calm, flowing water of Paro River. The nice, lullaby of the river soothes my tired nerves, from the long drive. I appreciated the beauty of this site as this is part of the stunning view of Bhutan. Depending where you are, you will get great pictures of the river, with the mountains as the backdrop. I thought of having a picnic along the banks, but didn’t have enough time. Travelers should take the time to admire this. No wonder, you’ll find peace and calmness in Bhutan.

it should be called the Land of Eternal Peace or maybe now as the world calls it : land of Gross Domestic Happiness ! Bhutan is a tiny friendly country full of green mountains, low hanging clouds, incredible monastories & of course - ever smiling people. Land routes from India border are best avoided (unless you are training for a Survival participant)! Air dash from Delhi/Kolkata is best -you may combine it with Nepal as well. Thimphu Hotels are neat, cheap & most stock International brands of food/drinks/cigarettes/ liquor/chocos etc. The local monastories or Fortess called Dzongs are maintained well and most will welcome you in appropiate clothing. always keep your water bottles handy and insist on your type of food -which they will bring. Paro is all about hill side Villas and quaint markets whereas Thimphu is now stocked with apartments, hotels, shopping areas (dont forget to pick up Thangas >silk embroidered Buddhist paintings), since they only have Druk Air flying in& out , makesure your reservations To& fro are complete, they are usually over-booked, now as the season of tourists start. Bhutan -i will recommend for a holiday if you are looking for a serene time & have genuine interest in Buddhist philosophy & way of life, have fun !

The Bhutanese landscape is incomplete without the rivers and we spent many an enjoyable moments at the riverside. But the Paro riverside was special because we had an impromptu picnic there!. The Chelela pass where we were scheduled to have our picnic lunch suddenly turned cloudy and cold so we decided to have a picnic at the riverside instead! And perhaps we enjoyed it even more because of the chilly, windy place that Chelela is ....whichever way, it was really very peaceful, scenic and wonderful couple of hours at the riverside.

Beautiful. Water looks clean and cold. River rocks, large and small, are along the river as it swiftly flows through Paro. I took a lot of pictures.

A cool river which flows through the heart of Paro. Clean as a silver sheet it continuously flows with a mild sound. The river is so clean that you can seen down below. There is not a piece of dirt on its bank. But up there on the hill from where you look down upon the river and the fantastic airport, there is a place where tourists stand for a while to have a look. There you find some garbage like empty beer cans. You feel agitated at such sight in such a beautiful country. The river runs parallel to the runway of the airport and all these together makes a godly ambiance. walk a few furlongs down stream and you come across a private ropeway with a saddle tightly locked. You feel like climbing on the same. It is told that the ropeway is somebody personal asset which he uses to visit his villa on the other side of the river. When he returns he unlocks the saddle and swiftly hang on the ropeway to reach his home. Nice scooter perhaps.

We were travelling from Punakha to Paro in June and in lot many places we found road is along the Paro Chhu river . We asked our Driver and guide to halt near one of the riverside . Nice surrounding . Not much deep water . But quite chilled water. You can refresh a and move forward. Nice photogenic spot.
