We went on the "two in one" trip: back horse riding and canopy zip line. It was amazing! Scary yet satisfying. The guides were excellent. Especially Oscar who took us with the hoses. The next day we went on a "private echo tour" with Oscar on the private Borinquen hasienda, we were all alone and so many birds and Monkeys - they do not advertise this hike - it is awsome! Ask for Oscar.

After a long bumpy ride our small group were met with a refreshing pineapple/mango drink. My husband and I went off to Zipline while the other 3 headed to the spa and pool. The guides (Jorge and Luis) could not have been more attentive to the our needs on the zipline. We both felt very safe. My husbanded wanted to go again. Me not quite as much - harder than this old lady thought it would be. After the zipline we met up with our friends and headed to a very flavorful buffet lunch, then off to the pool for some adult beverages. A wonderful way to spend the day. The cost was very very reasonable. We did not stay overnight.

We booked an excursion package with the resort we were staying at and spent the day here. Our package included zip lining, horse back riding, lunch, mud bath, hot springs, steam room and pool. Out guide (Christof) was super nice and knowledgeable! I told him I was scared about zip lining and he asked the zip lining guides to help me. The guys working at the zip lining station were great!! (Especially considering how difficult I was because I was terrified lol). Once you start the zip lining you have to finish all 12 lines. After line 3 I got really scared and they had a guide assist me for the rest of the lines , which I truly appreciated The horseback riding was fun too, the guide was helpful in organizing and leading the horses. The horses are very well trained. Lunch is buffet. There wasn’t a large variety of food but it was okay After lunch we had the option of doing the mud bath, hot springs, steam room and pool. Definitely needed that after the busy day Overall good time, just a note to self that 12 lines of zip lining is just too much for me

My husband and I recently stayed at the Borinquen for 5 days. We loved our room and the first couple days of indulging in the soothing hot springs, mud bath and natural sauna. But after the housekeeper changed our sheets on day two, it must have exposed bed bugs in the mattress because for the next three days we started getting BAD bed bug bites all over our bodies. Never had experienced bed bugs in all our travels over the years, we were unsure what they were until you can see multiple red welts all in a line and small blood stains in the sheets. Truly disgusting. Everything was actually great, peaceful, restful until we had to deal with bed bug bites that are still a nuisance and creating scars now two weeks past our stay. Out of curiosity, I found out that Borinquen is actually listed as a "bed bug location" since 2012! Wish I knew that to begin with because I would have just paid for a day trip to Borinquen rather than staying in a bed bug infested resort. My advice...the natural hot springs, mud bath, excursions (horseback riding, waterfalls, zip lining) are all worth it. Just do a day trip. Staff is nice, friendly. Food is ok. Just do the excursions.

I recently visited Borinquen on an excursion while I was on vacation with my daughter in Costa Rica. The entire experience exceeded my expectations by far. While there we rode horses, zip lined past amazing waterfalls, sat in the sauna from the steam of the volcano, did mud baths, and sat in the hot springs. The entire place was absolutely breathtaking. What made this place one of my favorite places ever was the people that work there. I have never felt such amazing hospitality. One of the people stood out from the rest. His name was Cesar. He is the guy who led our horse ride. Other than him being the most gorgeous guy in Costa Rica he made me feel very comfortable while riding a horse. I was scared at first, but with his help I didn't want to get off the horse when the tour was over. During the tour he told us all about the area and the wildlife. He made us feel exactly how you are supposed to feel on vacation, relaxed and at ease. I was a little worried about traveling alone with my teenage daughter to a foreign country, but Cesar and the rest of the staff at Borinquen helped me to not have a care in the world. I would go back to this place a thousand times if I could, and would recommend it to everyone.
