Stationed here in 1963. We were deployed to Pico Meadows, Cold Weather Training Station near Bridgeport, CA when President Kennedy was killed.

As a marine this is the first time I had been to this base. My son had his Navy Sea Cadet training here. Amazed as to how well it is kept up to Marine traditions. My son did great during training, & memories were built.

I was stationed at Camp Talega in 1977-1980. Camp Talega was FAR away from any other installation on Pendleton. I was the Commanding Office of Bravo Company, 1st Reconnaissance Battalion. I went back for a visit last year and they have LONG since moved to Unit to the harbor at Oceanside. GREAT memories of jumping, diving, patrolling and swimming...........…

I actually was stationed at 1st Recon Bn back in the early 80s , I can still hear Sergeant Maj Henderson telling us to saddle up for yet another motivating PT run . Some of the hardest times of my life were spent at Talega but I would not trade it for anything .
