Easy to book Cool wine tour which is a self guided bike tour to wineries. With Covid they do only 2 instead of 3 wineries at a reduced price. We thought 2 was just perfect for the time and effort in summer.
We booked the tour over phone about 10 to 12days in advance. Price included bike, helmet, locks and picnic basket/pouch plus wine tasting fees. They also pick up purchases at the wineries so you dont have to carry back.
The choice was wineries was great. Amazing wine with gorgeous vineyard views. We brought picnic lunch with us that we enjoyed at our first winery.
The covid restrictions, cleanliness and seating was apt. We felt safe and comfortable.
Highly recommend if you are in Napa Valley

Rented E-bikes for our family- 3 bikes, one with a kid trailer for our toddlers. The owner went out of his way to figure out a solution for us and the rental price was reasonable. The bikes were brand new and we had a blast riding around Calistoga. Would 100% recommend.

We ave used this shop for years for our wine tasting adventures in Calistoga. Our first time was with a guide that took us to 3 different wineries. During that trip we learned a lot about the area and the history thanks to our tour guide. We even got an amazing lunch too! Since that time we have gone on our own. Their bikes are new and in great shape. Very nice and helpful folks that work there and are enthusiastic about their business. If you want to wine taste or just tour the area at your own speed - this is the place to go. It's amazing how much you can see and absorb from the seat of a bike!

There is no denying that their rental bikes are excellent and anyone with an ordinary e-bike in the uk will be massively impressed with their “Specialized” bikes. Their service and maintenance is perfect.
BUT. Don’t take their tour, just rent a bike. It’s easy, the area is safe and very bike friendly. Drivers are considerate and courteous. If you stick to Calistoga, as they recommend, you don’t need an e-bike as it is flat.
We were persuaded NOT to go down the Silverado trail to a winery I wanted to visit. They told us any number of things to dissuade us from doing so. The main emphasis is that they will charge you if you have a puncture, but the chances of that are minuscule as the roads are good, and there are cycle lanes everywhere.
So we stuck to their route. A days rental ($100+ each) involved less than an hour in the saddle, and even with extended stops the bikes were returned with full batteries early afternoon.
My message is not to be afraid to cycle on Silverado, St Helena is easily reachable on an e-bike if you are a cyclist. I am very disappointed with the advice we received which spoiled our day. Instead of seeing the beautiful countryside we just saw a housing estate and got no exercise at all.

Really easy to rent from. We rented electric bikes and they were excellent and very durable bikes. Service was top notch and they gave great suggestions of short and longer rides to take. We also ended up getting a flat tire a few miles out and when I called for help they immediately came in a truck with another electric bicycle. Overall a great place to rent bicycles from.

We walked in without reservations and rented 4 e-bikes to take our first trek on the recently open Napa Valley Vine trail. Bikes were in great condition, easy to operate and the team was friendly and helpful. Honestly, I'm on the fence whether we should come back to rent again, purchase a used e-bike or have them refurbish my existing mountain bikes! Point is, they can do any of the above if you're interested. The fit us to the bikes, gave quick instructions, handed over the helmets and off we went. Highly recommend!

Fantastic bike shop with great range of products and friendly service. I hired a mountain bike and was shown the local trails on the shop computer and directed to the trailhead. Would recommend both the shop and local trails.

If you're a wine and cycling enthusiast, please read this review.
First, no, I'm not affiliated with the shop. This is a completely authentic review from someone who just used their services this past week, while we visited from Texas. We love a nice vigorous ride, and we love wine. I spoke with Brad the owner, a coiuple weeks before our trip, and explained that we wanted a good ride of 30+ miles, self guided, with the ability to backload with wineries (don't want to be hitting a bunch of wineries at the beginning of a 30+ mile ride!). Their Point to Point program was just what the doctor ordered.
We arrived a little before 8 a.m. at the shop. He had a couple of hybrids read for us (I recommend hybrids over a straight road bike due to the road conditions in some places), made adjustments as needed, dropped us off at Bouchon for breakfast, about 20-25 miles down the Napa Valley in Yountville. We got in a great ride, he provided us with a map which, as we were driving to the drop off in Yountiville, he gave us guidance on things to highlight, and road segments to avoid. We zig-zagged between the main thoroughfare (Highway 29?) and the Silverado Trail, based upon the wineries we wanted to visit, and road conditions.
Based upon Brad's recommendation, we picked up sandwhichs and salads at a historic 100+ year old store/deli, and picknicked at a winery in St Helena (along with some killer sheep's milk brie we bought at the wineries deli). We hit approximately 10 wineries, and at each stop, when we bought bottles of wine, we simply texted the shop with the winery name and the number of bottles.
When we arrived at the shop, around 5:00 p.m., where our car was parked, Brad was out covering the route, picking up our bottles for us. We had a glass or 2 of sauv blanc at Vermille's winery across the street. We walked across the street to the shop, where Brad had just arrived with all our purchases, which we loaded into the car, and drove to our accomodations at the Vinter's Inn, in Santa Rosa (another sweet story).
I'll close with how I opened, if you love wine and are a cycling enthusiast, like this Texan and his girl are, skip all the tours you'll find in your Google searches, and contact Brett at the Calistoga Bike Shop.

My husband, myself and our 21 yo son enjoyed a wonderful day riding bikes and heading to the tastings. Five tastings were included in the Cool Wine Tour - well worth it, as I think most wineries charge $10-20 for a tasting. All the wineries that we stopped at were gracious and informative, especially the young man at Tedeschi Vineyard, who took us out into the vineyard and told us all about the history of his family vineyard. No pressure to purchase anything. We are not big wine drinkers, but managed to purchase a few bottles and also purchased some olive oil. The ride uphill (felt like uphill both ways!) to Dutch Henry Winery was well worth it - beautiful. We managed to ride to all 5 wineries before the day was over. We picked this tour instead of a tour in Napa, as this one was on a bike path and roads that were not too busy and/or had shoulders to ride on. Why not enjoy the wine and get some exercise in along the way?

We booked the bike tour, which included a full day rental of touring bikes or cruiser bikes, along with tasting fees at 5 wineries. As a novice, I didn't know the good wineries from the bad, and frankly, it didn't matter. We were going to ride bikes and taste wine, woot woot!
I'm a long-time road and mountain bike cyclist, I had to laugh when we chose cruiser bikes since the fatty seats and cushy rides seemed to go along with getting tipsy...there's logic for you! But it worked well...
They got us all outfitted easily, gave us a map with highlighted route suggestions, both an expensive and fast/cheap lunch recommendation, and sent us on our way.
The directions were easy to follow and kept us off the main roads as much as possible, and we got to see some great back roads and trails we'd otherwise have missed.
The only downside: we missed a note at the bottom of the map that said it wasn't to scale, and the second winery (Dutch Henry) ended up being about a 2.5 mile climb, in 97 degree weather, and the winery itself was a bit anticlimactic. We were cooked. The quote of the day was "My b**bs are a waterfall!"
I'm not sure if the wineries change over time, but if not, we highly recommend Lava, where the good ol' boys with huge beards were supremely welcoming and explained a lot about wine in a fun, personable way. We left feeling a lot better about our day, though still hot.
Another perk is that if you choose to buy bottles of wine after any tasting, you don't have to schlep it around on your bike the rest of the day. Instead, the bike shop will drive around and collect everyone's wine, and you pick it up after the end of your ride. Brilliant!

We are planning a trip in July (as long as Covid doesn't close things down again!). We're interested in biking to some of the wineries. Are these tough rides? Uphill? We're not avid bike riders and it will be pretty warm! Also, which wineries are included in the self guided wine tour package? Thanks!
