First of all, we were extremely fortunate to have used the Calistoga Passport to experience wine tastings. Our first stop was at Laura Michael Winery and it proved to be a wise move. Our palates were fresh. My wife, who is not overly fond of Cabs really enjoyed each of the ones we tried. As a Cab lover I was... More

Laura Michael turned out to be our favorite stop in Calistoga. Jim spent 1 1/2 hours one-on-one with us. We tasted several wines, all which were very good. Took 2 bottles home, including a port that the guys really loved. Jim took as much time as we wanted answering questions about the wine and the vineyards, wine-making, and grape-growing.

Had a really nice time this morning talking about the farming of the grapes. Got to meet Laura, Michael, and their two sweet dogs. Definitely a fun stop for a few different Zinfandels and a really unique port, though the Cab was a favorite. All of the wines were smooth, which is impressive for 100% varietals. A lot of care.... Laura herself poured her wines and gave me quite an understanding of her views on winemaking and what makes her wines so unique. The cabs she poured were considerably older than most, and, overall, her taste in wines matched my own so I really liked them. She poured whites, rose, reds, and a port.

My niece and I enjoyed Tim and his friendly, fun wine pours! I really appreciated getting our tasting cost comped when you buy wine!! I bought 2 bottles! We enjoyed both of them later in the week! Cheers! Kim

As the many other reviews mentioned, Jim is very informative and made the visit, great! It is very intimate and has a small picnic area. The wines are very good as well. We have been to many wineries on both coasts and this was one of our most enjoyable!

We stopped in at Laura Michael as it was referred to us by many locals we spoke to. We visited Sterling Vineyard prior. My wife and I much preferred Laura's. We were greeted by two friendly dogs and made our way to the tasting room where we met Tim. Tim was friendly and very knowledgable being patient in explaining the... More

Great little winery with high quality low production wines. Wines are not in general distribution. Old world style, I bought a 2009 Cab which is easily one of the best wines I have ever tasted. Tasting fee is $10 per person and is waived with a wine purchase. If you get the the chance, stop in, fabulous wine and very... More

Where to begin? Well to start the tasting fee is VERY reasonable $10 and we tasted 6 wines. The prices for the wines themselves were really reasonable too. We bought a bottle of 2013 Napa Valley Chardonnay for under $25. Chardonnays are not my favorite, but I loved what I tried!!! ALL 6 varieties we tasted were the BEST out... More

There's not a lot to see at Laura Michael Wines, but the trip off the beaten path is well worth making. For starters, the wine is far and away the best of any produced by small businesses in the area. Secondly, the tasting is only $10 per person, and the six pours are very generous. But most of all, Jim... More
