If you have seen and are a fan of the movie , Bottle Shock ; then you should stop by . The grounds are impressive for a 19th century castle . The wine range for tasting is 2 whites and balance of reds . The reisling was better than the Chard and the best Cab Sav would have to be... More

A must see on the Napa area circuit. Beautiful grounds and architecture with swans great for picture taking. They are no longer dog friendly which is disappointing. The wine tasting with Aaron was swift but well explained. Cool history here and I couldn't leave with out the 2009 Estate Cab its incredible!

The Chardonnay is the wine that was the first Californian wine to win against France in the 1973 tastings in Paris - as featured in the movie "Bottleshock".... The property itself is a stunning castle and a destination of itself.

From the moment we drove into the parking lot, we knew the Chateau Montelena was going to be a special place and a valuable experience. Once parked under large over-story trees, one of the first things you see is the (manmade) lake that sits below the Chateau. Walking up the path the Chateau sits as a tribute to fine architecture... Rented bikes and enjoyed a lovely and educational afternoon of wine tasting. The grounds alone are worth the visit.

Wines are pretty good and this is the place that put NAPA on the map for there international win, so worth a short visit. I would plan about a 45 minute stop here with tasting and a quick walk around the Japanese gardens.

A beautiful building restored by the owner. The small lake and bridge reminded me of Monet. Vince was very informative and answered my questions to broaden my interests. eg. 2012 was a good year for quality not quantity of wine, It was a dry year so the roots had to seek water deeper resulting in a smaller tastier grape. Loved... More

Beautiful grounds, interesting history where movies were filmed (bottle shock). I wish they would let you do a single wine tasting vs set 3 wine tasting.

The wines are great, the setting is beautiful. But absolutely no access to walk amongst the vines or get any information on viticulture. A slight self guided tour showcasing some of the barrels would be nice. Having tours once a week on a Tuesday is inane.

There is more to see here than just the Bottleshock movie. Chateau and grounds are beautiful. People talk about the chardonnay but we love, love the Cabernet! Relaxing & fun servers. Warning- closes at 4 pm. Best to go midweek.
