Wines are pretty good and this is the place that put NAPA on the map for there international win, so worth a short visit. I would plan about a 45 minute stop here with tasting and a quick walk around the Japanese gardens.

A beautiful building restored by the owner. The small lake and bridge reminded me of Monet. Vince was very informative and answered my questions to broaden my interests. eg. 2012 was a good year for quality not quantity of wine, It was a dry year so the roots had to seek water deeper resulting in a smaller tastier grape. Loved... More

Beautiful grounds, interesting history where movies were filmed (bottle shock). I wish they would let you do a single wine tasting vs set 3 wine tasting.

The wines are great, the setting is beautiful. But absolutely no access to walk amongst the vines or get any information on viticulture. A slight self guided tour showcasing some of the barrels would be nice. Having tours once a week on a Tuesday is inane.

There is more to see here than just the Bottleshock movie. Chateau and grounds are beautiful. People talk about the chardonnay but we love, love the Cabernet! Relaxing & fun servers. Warning- closes at 4 pm. Best to go midweek.

This winery is so beautiful to visit, it wouldn't matter if they had wine tasting at all to me! We had a nice tasting and their wine is good. The grounds are spectacular! A must see spot!

The historic building of Chateau Montelena is set in lush gardens with a picturesque lake. Famed for winning the 1970s Judgment of Paris against French wines, the winery is now best known for its Cabernet Sauvignons, expensive and excellent. Paid tours are available each morning. Worth a visit.

Do yourself a favor, visit this place. The wine is exceptional but the gardens and buildings are breathtaking. It's a must. Shout out to Jordan who helped us though our wine tasting flight. Service was impeccable.

Visited during the year of the 40th anniversary of the 'judgment of Paris' tasting. Good wines; friendly staff who are happy to tell you about the winery and its wines.

History is interesting but it's really now a tourist stop. Had lunch, tasting and tour there which (all) were underwhelming. Wines are (being optimistic) average, food OK, service entirely acceptable. Go for story, the families that have owned it and the Koi ponds and views, and you have all you need to know about the place!
