Riding the gondola to the wine tasting room at the top of the mountain makes this one of the more fun wine tasting experiences. Great wines.

I live in San Francisco and make the trip to the wine country very often. After visiting a lot of wineries in the area I narrowed it down to a few wineries to join as a club member. My experience at Sterling was excellent from day 1 (I went back several times to make sure it was consistent). It is... More

With a $39 per person tasting fee for 3 two oz pours with no option to share a tasting this was not an experience I would repeat. $30 for a 3 cheese 2 meat combination platter we are already $110 in before we bought wine. We purchased $1000. worth of wine and the tasting fee was not waived. Would not... More

We stopped by Sterling because we had a little time to kill and we had heard about the gondola experience. Riding up the mountain in the gondola is definitely a one-of-a-kind experience in the Napa Valley. I also enjoyed that the tour of the winery is self-paced so you can stroll and enjoy the views at your leisure. If you're... More

The tram ride up was nice but honestly the views are the same from the top so it just seems gimmicky. The self guided tour was interesting but not as much detail as you receive on other tours with a guide. The wine was easily the worst we had. We would not recommend spending the additional money on the cheese.

We were told to visit Sterling towards the end of the day, to ride the gondola to the top towards sunset. We waited in a very long line and finally made it. With the other five tours of the day, we received five wines included in the tasting price. Here you are on a self guided tour, you are given... More

It was our first time here in Sterling. I looked up this place on TripAdvisor and was carried away by its gondola service. What surprised us, in a good way, though, on the day, was the self-guided tour. There were four stops, with a wine stop on each one of them. On the tour you basically see how the wine... More

After reading the negative reviews I can only conclude we hit this vineyard on a good day. My wife saw the "Grape Stomping Today" sign and I knew that was going to be our first activity here. After "stomping", you step off onto a Sterling Vineyard t-shirt ($20) to imprint your feet onto the shirt. So...my wife had a t-shirt... More

This is by far my favorite wine tour experience! When you arrive at this vineyard you take a tram up a steep hill to actually arrive at the tasting room/vineyard. The scenery from the top is breathtaking. They offer a self guided tour that lets you take your time and truly enjoy the experience! You get to see the actual... More
