The trails are well-marked, and the best part is there are destinations to ride to, not just riding in circles. Restrooms at destinations, and great maps distributed by the Cal State Parks rangers. One of my favorite places for years, and camping and riding is...More
First off road playing at Ocotillo... It was a bit flat and dusty for my style of off roading. Geared to the fast movers of the world, not a lot to see but for a few hills and some hot water bubbling from the ground.
This is a big Off Road riding area. There is all kinds and types of desert riding here. All the major washes and roads have signs so you can use maps to learn the area and know where you are at. This Park borders Anza-Borrego...More
This was our first time in the area and we were overwhelmed by the beauty of the place. If you can imagine a watercolor desert landscape hanging in a museum where people come to gape in awe, then Ocotillo Wells must have been the inspiration....More

This is our 2nd time coming to Ocotillo for off road fun. This place is amazing, we are normally camping and riding at GLAMIS but figured we give this place a shot. The weather was in the mid to high 80s this past weekend so...More
Have stayed several times at the Blu Inn campgrounds. Greeted by Marylee, always smiling, wonderful hostess. It's close to all the places we like to ride, and after a long riding day we can jump in the pool, jacuzzi.
LOTS of upgrades & amenities since our visit last year. Many more shade structures with picnic tables and buried chains for security lock-up of your toys; more bathrooms, a couple shower facilities, more trash bins, and trails are better marked so's ya don't get lost...More
TR – San Diego backcountry – scorpion safari and markets (7 Replies)
I don't see a San Diego County forum, so I can't find a better place to post this: Had some errands to run in the San Diego backcountry, so I headed out Friday morning and took care of them. Note, some of the areas I visited are very HOT – temperature high in the desert that day was about 106. I keep at least a gallon of water in the car on these types of outings, and ½ gallon on my person for hikes (varies by duration). I’d seen an ad for a Scorpion Safari offered in Ocotillo Wells...More
