This unique park is one of the best kid friendly spots in the East Bay. If you are traveling with kids and want to do something for cheap that they will enjoy a lot, this is the place to go!

First things first: You have to sign a waiver upon entry that you will not hold Adventure Playground liable if your kid gets hurt. There's a REASON for that waiver. This is not your local suburban park playground with a rubber floor and lawsuit-proof play structures. There are random nails... everywhere. There are random pieces of wood... everywhere. There are hacksaws and hammers... everywhere. Many of the play structures are being built BY those kids with the hacksaws and hammers (with all the structural engineering integrity you would expect of a structure built by 7-yr-olds). And there are kids RUNNING around holding hacksaws and hammers and nails and random pieces of wood up and down those rickety-ready-to-collapse-at-any-moment-structures... everywhere. Expect your kid to fall. Expect your kid to get scratched. Expect your kid to walk out with dirt and sand in their underwear and ears and in their mouth. And then be happy if one or more of those things DON'T happen. But don't say "Nobody warned me this could be dangerous". Oh, and expect your kids to have a GREAT TIME. Mine certainly did. They had to kick us out at closing time. We could have stayed there for two more hours. Oh, and for the non-local travelers who worry about such things (like me): there was plenty of free parking on a warm August Sunday afternoon at the Berkeley Marina next door.…

I booked a two hour block at Adventure Playground for my son’s 10th bday. There were 10 kids (mainly boys) between the ages of 6 and 13. They ALL had a blast. They explored, created, collaborated, played on the zip line and cleaned after they were done. The staff was helpful when I called to book, responsible and gave a fantastic safety/rules talk before we went in and friendly on site during the visit. The view/setting is beautiful too. I would definitely recommend this! No food allowed inside but there’s a park right next door and you can picnic. Thank you for a great experience. I had one thrilled 10 year old.…

We did not have kids here, but we watched all of the kids skip the "regular" playground for this. Well staffed and definitely creative. My children are grown, but I would have a been a "nervous Nelly".

Even though its designed for 6+ year old children, our 4 year old was able to enjoy majority of this playground. He was thrilled to explore this unique layout of playing, where he could play on a structure in several creative manners. Hang, swing or walk. We intend to come here often, for longer duration, to enjoy the beautiful views. After 5 pm, closing time, we went to the play structure next door to enjoy till dark. The restrooms are nearby and close at 5 pm. There are several picnic benches outside, paved foot path to stroll along the waters while enjoying a crispy morning or a magical sunset.…
