A top-flight regional theater company, the Berkeley Rep offers sophisticated plays in its sleek modern facility in downtown Berkeley. Its thrust stage in a gently curved amphitheater provides excellent sight lines from every seat. I took in The Last Tiger in Haiti, a recent play that is a co-production with the La Jolla Playhouse. Direction and level of acting was... More

This theater is very impressive. The performance of the play "it can't happen here" was incredibly moving. A powerful performance that will linger with us for a long long time. The entire cast was magnificent. Such a timely subject. This was our first time at Berkeley rep but it won't be our last

We have seen 3 different shows at the Rep. Amazingly different. Provocative, fun, serious, mind blowing. Never disappointed.

We've had season tix for years, and this is our favorite among our cultural choices. You may not like the play, but it's always well done. Acting is always superb. The season offers an excellent variety. A bonus is their very user friendly box office.

If you like the theatre, this is an awesome local venue. Great actors and a really nice venue serving (actually) good cocktails and snacks. Go early so you get parking . They really do not do late seating (I've experienced it myself!(

We just saw Treasure Island at the Berkley Rep and we LOVED it. What an awesome performance in such an initiate theater. Cute little bar and snack areas. Very accessible restrooms. You feel so part of the performance itself. The theater is on a semi circle stage setup.

the berkeley rep is becoming a no miss destination for theatre...the choice of plays reaches wide audiences, the space is intimate, the sets are imaginative with great use of sound effects and music and there are favorite who come back year after year...playwrights, actors and directors. now they are also teamed with the shakespeare festival in ashland and this partnership... Consistently great theater with superb performances. BRT mixes it up with new premieres and traveling productions. Both venues are very comfortable, with great sight lines and acoustics. Definitely one of the highlights of the region.

We saw "Disgraced". It was very well done, thought provoking and timely. We were two rows from the back and could see/hear very well. The bar was open before the show, but the bar tenders insisted on keeping the door wide open. It was freezing, people were complaining, but they wouldn't listen....something about people not able to get in without... More

Just saw "Disgraced", a thought provoking play with fine acting and a contemporary theme. Berkeley Rep has two theaters, one with a thrust stage, and the other a proscenium. They do a variety of mostly new material, some avant garde, some controversial, but always with talented casts and quality productions. Every seat has good sight lines, so you can still... More
