We checked in on July 3rd. We already paid for a room with a Bay view (we really wanted the view and paid more). When we arrived around 4:00 pm we were told our room was not ready. We waited about an hour and we were told that they did not have a Bay view room available. The woman at... More

If you want a great rub-down, elegant surroundings, and pleasant staff, there is no better than the Spa at the Claremont. My wife and I enjoy it exceedingly. Relaxing, stress-reducing, with wonderful aromas.

I have stayed here before and it was nice, now that Fairmont hotels is running it, I think there has been considerable improvement. The improvements are obvious and the staff seem even friendlier that in the past. If this is an example of the changes I am looking forward to another stay. Very impressive

The Claremont has been completely updated by Fairmont and is once again a beautiful, luxurious resort. It is located in the hills of Berkeley and the staff is quite professional, yet friendly. We had a terrific room with a view of the bay- a wonderful way to begin and end the day. We have stayed at less expensive hotels in... More

This is one of those great old (but modernized and very well maintained) hotels similar to the Del Coronado in San Diego, etc. It was purchased a few years ago by some key San Francisco people and also became part of the Fairmont Hotel brand. But it has retained all of its wonderful and distinctive elements. Excellent for business conferences... More

Luxury in every respect, located in the beautiful Claremont Hotel. This is without a doubt one of the best spa's in the U.S. Out door lap pool's, hot tubs both inside and out. The spa area is out of this world, steam room, hot tub, bath tub, showers and lounge to relax and have a beverage. The spa at the Claremont... More

The Claremont is THE place to stay in Berkeley. It is nestled in the lower foothills just above Berkeley which gives many of the guestrooms and common areas spectacular views of the bay. The Club & Spa, which is part of the hotel, is spectacular with many tennis courts, a top notch workout area, a world-class spa, two large swimming... More

Lovely facility, helpful staff, beautiful views, luxurious amenities and classic rooms. But, there is a huge amount of construction (the Meritage restaurant was closed, and other cavernous restaurant looked vacant with few diners) so there is a make-shift lobby and no main entrance. Getting to the outdoor pools and spa requires a walk through the parking lot in your complementary... More

Yes this "old Gal" has been around and yes you may feel like riding a tricycle in the hallways BUT what service! what views! what a health club! wow! I slept like a rock with those windows open....also enjoyed the Thock Thock Thock sound of tennis players. laughter and birds ...That is something you cannot "buy" at most hotels.... close... More

Why don't more people stay here. Spectacular old hotel with stunning views of the bay. Great pool, spa, and restaurant. Much cheaper than San Francisco. The only catch is you'll need to rent a car as there is no public transportation and not much nearby. The rooms are dated, but clean and quaint. I have stayed here a few times... More
