Located in the middle of a nice and wealthy neighborhood with huge and ancient trees. If you visit the municipal rose garden is ok., always climbing or descending, but if you go to the left side there is a walk in a deep forest like, and you cross little bridges made of wood., without pave , nice and peaceful .... Though in all fairness the site is apparently about to begin a rehab process such as re-building the pergola. Still, the roses looked in pretty bad shape in a month where they should have been thriving.

Public gardens of this quality are quite rare. The Berkeley Municipal Rose Garden is a really nice place to walk around, enjoy the outdoors, and the odor of hundreds/thousands of roses. Totally free admission.

with views of the bay and a variety of roses in bloom, what's not to like...it's quiet and lovely and a great place for a relaxing stroll or to just sit quietly and contemplate. a discovery place in berkeley and never too crowded. wheelchair accessible and free.

We just love it here and have been bringing our kids for years and years. It's peaceful, beautiful, a little oasis of calm in a busy urban world. This is our special go-to place to watch the sunset across the Bay.

Even if you never see the roses, the view of the sunset over the bay cannot be beat! Grab a Cheese board pizza and a spot on the wall and watch the magic.

Situated with wonderful views towards San Francisco. What a shame the city has let the rose garden slip into ruin. Overgrown rose beds, roses with diseases and dead heads. Granted we had missed the best showing of the roses, but with a little care many of the roses would have had more flowers. Sad. Free entry. Hopefully the city will... More

The Rose Garden has fallen into disarray. We were there in mid-May when the roses should be flourishing, but they were not. It does not appear to be regularly tended, the beds have not been weeded, the bushes not deadheaded, and some of the pathways are crumbling. Berkeley needs to talk to Portland, Oregon. Not a site to go out... More

Nice history and display. Needs more funding for better kept gardens. No reason to go if roses are not in bloom. Nice views...but where in Berkeley doesn't have a good view?
