I wish I had looked more closely at the reviews of this boat. BAD for a reason. I don't even know where to start. We booked a full day (in the bay) trip, we arrive on time (early as requested. "Captain" shows up 15 minutes later, seems annoyed that we are on time. Starts getting the boat ready to go, past time to leave, another couple shows up. About this time "Captain" checks the bait fish, GAAAG. The smell is enough to gag a maggot, guessing they are several days dead. So we wait, while he cleans out the bait tank. Smell gets a little better but still some smell of something bad. The other couple informs us that we are going to be party to his burial at sea of his former girlfriend and her cat's cremains. UH, what?? So off we go, to the pier in SF to get bait, then out past the Golden Gate bridge to dump the girlfriend. After wasting about 3 hours of our paid time on getting bait and the side trip, we finally get to do some fishing. Caught a few small ones, and we were enjoying ourselves for the most part. There is still some bad smell, that wafts around. the "captain" does spend the majority of his time in the cabin on his phone. The cabin and lower area are dirty and very cluttered. I don't know how anyone could get down to the restroom if it was actually needed. My husband reels in a keeper on the "captains" unattended pole, the captain takes it off the hook, and throws it into a dry "live" well. Seems to defeat the purpose... we continue to boat around trying to catch something. In the afternoon, the water starts to get pretty rough, by my standards. Trying to hold on for dear life to prevent being dumped overboard will make you think its rough. I notice the rail my husband is clinging to has the bolts about to fall out. I ask the "captain" if he has a socket or something to tighten the bolts. He digs around and comes up with something to tighten them down. During this time of him being out with us on the boat, I realize the smell is HIM. He is absolutely. disgustingly. filthy. I am trying to think that hopefully the brown stain on the back of his shorts is something he sat in, but from the smell, I am guessing not. After several hours of not catching anything, and managing not to be thrown overboard from the 4 ft swells, "captain icky" takes us back to the marina. By this time, the poor fish has been in the "dead well" for about 5 hours, between that and the filthy, blood spattered cutting board, we decline to take it with us. This was a great learning experience to do a little more research, and don't trust 2 year old reviews. I almost cancelled when we saw the boat from a distance because it looked a little small, still regretting not doing that. The actual owner of this boat needs to do something, like set it on fire and sink it.…

If you want to go out with the worst charter captain & the slowest boat in S.F. Bay area, this is the guy for you, We made reservations for a half day trip which was suppose to be a 5-1/2 hour trip, but he didn't tell us it was a 1-1/2 hour trip 1 way to the fishing spot. So that left 2-1/2 hours to fish. Capt. Chad (him getting a captaincy license is a joke) spent 95% of the trip on his I-phone sitting in the cabin. Gave no direction or any input to any of his 4 clients. I know it's not called catching, but I've been out on hundreds of charters in the Bay area over the last 40 years & none have been as bad as him. He literally hates his job, & he doesn't take care of his boat, equipment & clients, or his personal hygiene. PLEASE SAVE YOUR $, AS THERE ARE PLENTY OF GOOD BOATS TO GO OUT ON.…

I found Bay Charters on the internet and booked a full day charter in the bay. We fished for Halibut and Stripers; and Captain Chad did not disappoint. Very friendly and well experienced Captain. Plenty of room on the deck for 6 anglers. I recommend a trip with Bay Charters and will return myself.…
