With a history of acoustic folk music Freight and Salvage presents both traditional acoustic music in many idioms Their choice of performers is suburb and the sound sightless and comfortable seating cannot be matched anywhere in the bay area.

Freight and Salvage has offered excellent music for many years, focusing on performers who play smaller venues. The new F&S on Addison Street offers a good open sound room with outstanding acoustics. We were there for an Old Time music day and enjoyed the performers more because of the excellent setting.

I have been here a few times for various shows and always enjoyed the venue. There is plenty of seating and the way it is laid out most all seats give a very good to good view of the stage. It's relatively small so even the seats at the back are not too far from the stage. We were here... More

Always excellent sound in this small venue. Great variety of music, very reasonable ticket prices, small surcharges. Seats are comfy too. This is always a great spot for music.

I went to Freight and Salvage for the live taping of Kamau Bell's Kamau Now podcast. They had a full audience and a series of people. Simple venue but nice for smaller events.

It's more than a coffee house, but not as formal as a concert hall. You can take a drink to your seat, relax, and enjoy wonderful music. It has a different musical group just about every night. There's folk, jazz, latin, country -- just about every kind of music. One of our favorite places to go for live music. It... More

We love Freight and Salvage. The music and ambience are laid back and relaxed, for a quieter, simple evening. They also provide classes on subjects not taught many if any other places, celtic singing, banjo, different types of poetry and writing, etc. It's just a kitchy, fun, down home place to spend some time evenings or for a class. And... More

This was our first visit to Freight and Salvage Coffee House and we really liked it. We went to see Stan Ridgway and it was very good. The venue is really nice. It only seats around 400 and they make sure everyone has a place to sit down. It's Theater seating and they sell beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages and... More

We made our first trip to Berkeley to see specific musicians playing at Freight & Storage. It was a great experience. We really like respectful audiences and more intimate venues to listen to our favorite musicians. This was perfect. We met many like-minded people in the audience and talked at length with others about other folk/roots musicians they had seen.... More

I was really looking forward to seeing shows at this venue. I spent a week in Berkeley and my plan was to go every night. But, the first show I went to started 15 minutes late, the break was 35 minutes after the band announced they'd be back in 15 minutes and no one really seemed to care. Food and... More
