Fourth Street is Berkeley has some good shops and looks different from the rest of Berkeley. There are some good cafes and gift shops. Architects, Contractors, and Civil Engineers may like Builder's bookstore. Good place to visit and relax if you have time but it...More

Easy to find with available parking too. Lots of nice stores and places to eat, drink and take out. We like late morning as parking can be found with mellow shoppers. Checkout Amazon as it just opened.

Stylish section of West Berkeley. Shops and dining, or just grab a latte. Top line beauty products; shoes, lovely clothing stores. Favorite store, Sur la table has everything for a spectacular kitchen. Beautifully decorated streets for the holidays!

We love walking around here and going into some of the many high end stores. Love the authentic Turkish import store for towels!

This non-Berkeleyan shopping district lets you feel like you’re visiting a trendy suburb like Walnut Creek. Unless you’re a confirmed shopaholic (or Apple Store frequenter) you’d get a more typical local experience almost anywhere else in town, from Solano Ave to Downtown to the Elmwood.

Premier destination for visitors and locals alike. Tiny shops feature Japanese items, unique pens, paper, fairies, inks, toys, makeup and delicious food of many types.

This is almost like a corporate mall. I expected more boutique shops and it was primarily chain stores.

I like to go down to Fourth Street to wander, although it was better when Cody's books and Brennan's restaurant were there. Parking is fairly easy and there are fun stores. A Peet's coffee, the Apple Store, a kitchen store, a pet store, a toy...More

If you are looking for upscale shopping and restaurants in Berkeley, Fourth Street is a nice option. Some chains, some independent retailers and lots of beautiful flowers. There is an Apple Store but our favorite was The Gardener which is a nice, garden-inspired boutique.

HI We are a retired couple with a chance to stay on East Fourth in the Bowery.. Too hip for retirees? Looks very interesting... just want to be sure we aren't too out of our demographic, not that we only hang out with our age..but.. what do you think? I

commuting from SFO to Fourth Street (4 Replies)
We would like to ride BART from SFO to Fourth St (SFO Marriott). I know that BART departs from the International Terminal. But, can someone enlighten me as to which stop we get off. Also are there luggage racks? I think the fare is about $8 and takes 20 minutes or so. From what I gather, it will be much faster than taking a cab. many thanks!

Do you mean the San Francisco Marriott, recently renamed the Marriott Marquis? SFO is the airport designation only, and the airport is about 10 miles to the south next to a suburb called San Bruno. The Marriott Marquis is located on 4th Street at Mission Street, one block south of Market Street. Once you exit the underground station at Market & 4th, it takes 3-4 minutes to walk to the hotel. The BART ride is $8.10 and takes 29 minutes. Enjoy your visit!
