Past Strawberry Canyon is the 34-acre Botanical Garden, which holds about 13,000 species of plants. The species are organized according to regions of the world, and the garden has a great collection of native Californian plants. Bring a picnic basket and some money for the bookstore and admission (closed the first Tuesday of each month and free on the first Thursday of each month). Be sure to check out the conservatory (for tropical plants) and the Chinese medicinal herb garden. The garden is open from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. every day of the year except the first Tuesday of each month, Thanksgiving Day, December 24 and 25, December 31, January 1, and Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Tours are also available on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

Confession of a Conflict of Interest! I have been a member of the UCBG for about 15 years. I visit it a lot. I support it financially. I recommend it to all visitors to Berkeley. And I take friends there whenever I can. So this...More

We go to the botanical gardens a few times each year. They are well maintained and have a wide selection of plants that are native to California as well as several obscure species from other parts of the world.

My band (your song my song)has played at the Redwood Grove and we love it. A magical setting on a terraced amphitheater in the woods. We also attended an awesome wedding at the Garden and loved walking through and gaping at all the unique plants.

The price of admission, amazing views and diverse plantlife make this hidden gem a must see. Definately carve out about four hours of your day to enjoy all that this park has to offer but be mindful that the parking isn't the most convenient. Morning...More

A hillside garden with meandering trails along the hillside and the sound of water, as the stream plunges through the garden. A quiet moment of solitude in the bustling city of Berkeley.

I come here all the time to relax and meditate. It is big enough that you can find a section to be alone in. Very impressive CA and international section.
