Telegraph Avenue is scruffy, unappealing and has no places worth visiting with the exception of the Framers Workshop, a wonderful and long-established framing store.

I am writing about the stretch of Telegraph that abuts the University of California Berkeley. At one end is "People's Park", the abode of drifters and drug dealers. The street is littered with panhandlers and the mentally deranged who regularly accost passers-by. At night it...More

The place is full of addicts and bums. Suppose it's ok if you are one of them. There are some unique shops and restaurants but those can be found in better places.

Fun place to take out of town guests but don't come here at night. a throw back to the 60's hippie movement

Over rated. Past its prime, but still entertaining. Parking is tough. Gentrified. Good to visit once, but not worth returning to if you are over 25.

True, it is seedy, but never bothered by it. Great for clothes, food, bars. It is definitely a must see when in Berkeley.

It's a little run down but a great place to buy gifts and people watch, especially during December, when there is a street fair and the Avenue is closed to vehicles.

I liked the variety of shops, venues, etc. Also liked the people-watching aspect-it can get very colorful here. It 'transfers' (transports) you to another era at times.

It is run down with many vacant storefronts. There are also many homeless begging on the streets. This is not Telegraph Ave from the 60s.

It probably depends on the vendor. There's an excellent Chinese bakery across from campus that I visited about 9 am. I didn't see street vendors then. They were there in the afternoon. It probably depends on the day of the... More
