This is Bakersfield’s staple bike riding trail. Long vast trail with much to see. In certain areas you do have to be cautious of people walking the trail with their families and/or dogs but for the most part they are considerate of people on bikes.

Air quality was interesting. Some dazed bright blue skies, sometimes haze for days.
Nice feel for a spread out place.

If you are a resident in Bakersfield you know of the trail that runs all the way by Enos Lane, through river walk all the way to Heart Park. it is a well kept trail the parts I have ventured on I never did whole trail but have seen it from most every angle.if you are an outdoor type of individual in it is a must.

Nice walk in a beautiful setting

Spring time is the best time to see the scenery in Kern County and this walkway set apart from the busy streets makes viewing the countryside such a pleasant time. It is frequented by bicyclists as well, so you do have pay attention to your surroundings. The paved trail connects to others, so you can go quite a distance and satisfy whatever "leg stretching" you need to do.

Flat, fast,i and scenic for road bike riding

We really enjoyed the bike path which is paved and basically flat that follows the Kern river into the foothills. We rode two days in a row and took a different part of the trail each time. The bike path was paved, clear of debris and well-maintained. There were no tree roots lifting up the path as you find with many other bike riding locations. There are many different entrances to this trail and you can either turn towards the foothills or down the river.

We did about 30 miles each ride And we found a nice place to stop for coffee at a bike shop called the finish line. The owner had coffee outside with some biscotti for bike riders to stop and rest for a while. Also the shop was available for any maintenance that was necessary.

We would definitely come back to Bakersfield and continue with our explorations of this bike trail and others. There are numerous rides available and the finish line bike shop has these listed on their website. There are places to stop if you leave the bike trail and go a block or two for coffee or food.

Just be careful of the numerous homeless people that live along the river. The further into the foothills you go the narrower the canyon gets and the homeless people are much closer to where you are walking, riding or jogging. Try to stay in small groups certainly more than one person by themselves riding Or exercising. We were taking advantage of this lovely ride and perfect temperatures in the high 70s 1 November. Looks like a good place to ride almost all year as there is very little rain in Bakersfield. Enjoy

Pretty Nice Trails

Nice enough trails as long as you come early or late to avoid the insane Bakersfield heat. You can walk and bike the area. Lots of fun!

Great spot to walk/ride and watch a sunset!

I was in town for a few days, but "working out" at a hotel gym just doesn't do it for me.

Found the Parkway Trail and I was good.

Clean pathways, mostly good signage. Dark after sunset!

Parking areas near the trail as well.

I'll be back the next time I'm in town.

Great area for hiking or cycling

28 miles along Kern river (often dry in summer). Asphalt path great for bikes, skates or just walks. Wild life abounds on much of the path.

Post apocalyptic feel!

This was the most disappointing bike trail I have personally visited. The path is paved and in good condition. However, the trail looks and feels like a landfill. Broken concrete is dumped along the edges, homeless people haunt the shrubs, and the oil derricks and tanks give a sense of the end of civilization. The only thing missing was zombies. Scary. Very scary. Btw, there is no river.

Wonderful experience!

This Kern River trip is unforgettable! From LA, driving about 3 hours, through I-5, I-178 and I-155, you can see Kern River! It is so beautiful! Except sound of water, birds are singing a lots! Very natural, original and clean! It is good for camping, hiking, and more fun! The first day we explored 100 Giant Trees, the second day we went to rafting! There are several levels provided by different companies. We went to level 3. For us, not really challenging, but really fun! The entire experiences are unforgettable!
