Nice castle with nice garden

This city is about one hour from Prague centre, accessible by D5 highway. In the town you can see nice main square and this castle. You can visit the castle or quite big castle garden with park. Sometimes they organize cultural events.

Chill our in the park
Jun 2015
Beautiful castle with some permanent exhibitions and tours and most of all relaxing park behind the castle with famous "Sun gate". You can just walk around the park and chill out. And expect to see some weddings if arriving at weekend :-)

Beautifully restored.

I admit that I'm partial as my great grandfather worked here and my grandmother was born here. I first visited 20 years ago and the palace was under restoration - and the tour was in Czech, which I don't speak. This time, I wrote in advance and requested a tour in English. We had a tour about the last family who lived there, and also a tour of the rooms. Not much of the furnishings are original, but are items acquired from similar properties and decorated based upon family and visitor descriptions. The "downstairs" includes photographs from the early 20th century. There is also a bath with frescoes that reminded me of Roman baths - I've never seen anything like it in other palaces. There is a small, family run cafe on the premises with amazing pastries. And, there is now a small gift shop.

Interesting place

Beatiful castle with three guided tours - reprezentative rooms, private apartments and the third is toys of small aristocrats that is especially loved by children. The castle was owned at frst by the Czech nobility and later on by the German noblemen. After the 1945 the castle was confiscated by the state under the prezident Benes decrees. The last owners never returned from exile. There is also nice park around the castle.
