This church is easy to locate, in front of Parque Caldas and next to the Torre Reloj.
What impressed me is its modern altar areas, with Jesus standing over the world!
Gone are the antique, old-looking statues of saints, Mary and Jesus.
The most important temple in downtown. Was rebuilt after the 1983 earthquake, but still hosts all the antique images from the colony. It is a sacred place for catholics and part of the skyline of downtown popayan.

Nuestra Señora de Asunción Cathedral, is a different church that shows Jesus resurrected, and a Neoclassical style. The crown of the Andes (belongs of the virgin "Nuestra Señora de Asunción" is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City
