Beware this place is a major scam and the women are scam artists and will pressure you into buying FAKE alpaca stuff. They have the exact same stuff in the cheap Knick back stores all over Cusco only in Chinchero u will be paying way more as they make you think it is unique and handmade. We went here and should have done research but thought it was authentic due to the presentation etc. We should have been smarter to google it first. After this we happen to go shopping in Cusco saw all the same cheap stuff everywhere.

Sold synthetic pieces and advertised it as real baby alpaca. Synthetic pieces were being sold at around 600 soles, the price of real baby alpaca pieces. Would not recommend shopping here, at all.

A surprisingly enjoyable spot we visited as part of a three city excursion from Cusco. We attended a short demonstration while seated in a semi-circle around three young women weaving and creating textiles stains. The lead spoke decent English, the tasks were easy to understand and remarkable to watch, and the troupe was downright entertaining.
Afterwards, we had the opportunity to purchase handmade goods like socks, scarves, hats, and shawls at prices we found lower than at many markets. Negotiation was not discouraged. This was a lot better than I was anticipating.

Stopped here on the way to the train station. Very interesting demonstrations and the quality of the clothing was very good. I ended up passing out after leaving there because I was sick for days before arrival and not in the best condition. The ladies sprung into action, as did my driver, like I was one of their own and helped me recuperate. They are very special people and their goods are of top quality.
I would imagine the reason a lot of us travel is to appreciate other cultures and realize that we are different but the same, regardless of social stature or money. My experience at this place reinforced my belief that the true value of people is what is in their heart.

This is my strongest recommendation— visiting this cooperative is a must for several reasons. The trip from Cusco takes you higher into the mountains as it winds through the hilly neighbourhoods of the city; learning about the Alpaca wool natural process and how girls learn from their grandmothers reflects how the tradition; the products are top quality at good prices; it’s an opportunity to meet young women who are proud of the skills that they have learned in school, such as fluency in English. Simply put, it reinforces the beauty of Peru and its people and the memory will stay with you.

It is a non profit making organisation intended to preserve and pass on the ancient Andean skills,

This was the first stop off the plane from Lima to Cusco and into the Sacred Valley. It was the perfect stop-off to stretch legs and get a bit of an immersive cultural experience as well. This is not only a great place to purchase traditional, handcrafted textiles, but the weavers incorporate an educational demonstration of the process of their craft -- from natural wool dying to the weaving itself. It was interesting to see the different stages of the process leading up to the wonderful wares they had to sell. No one is pushy with with selling, but I'd recommend purchasing from them. I bought a few things and here and they were some of my favorite purchases from the trip. The weavers take time to answer any questions you may have and are all very friendly. Even though they probably do these demos many times a day, it wasn't rushed and was an overall impactful experience. They even served us tea to help adjust to the altitude (similar to coca tea, but they used a different herb)! It was also fun to see their pen of llamas and alpaca up close, as well as the little house of cui (guinea pigs). Bonus: We even got an impromptu cui cleaning demonstration, as they were preparing some freshly killed cui for a festival later that night!

Our guide stopped at this stop at the end of a day tour - it was amazing! We were shown how to clean the wool, die the wool using plants & their friendly staff assisted me in purchasing gifts for our friends and grandkids at home. Great spot - shopping & learning in one stop!

Visited Chinchero today. So impressed with the weaving center demonstration. When we arrived we were given hot tea and a young woman began to walk us through the process of removing cleaning and dying wool. This is followed be a multi step demonstration of how wool is woven. The demonstration tool less than 30 minutes but it e plained so much about traditional Peruvian dress. They also have some hand made items for sale. I purchased a sheep’s wool table runner that took several weeks to make. Other alpaca wool items that may not be hand made are also available (at lower prices).
For animal lovers they have alpaca and llama on site as well in a small petting zoo area.
