Animal abuse for human entertainment
Jun 2019 • Friends
I really didn't enjoy it.
The calling of the cows was supposed to be entertaining but all I could see were cows afraid of the guy holding the whip.
This is animal abuse, I'm really sorry I went to see this.
Better spend time in nature.

Not worth going

The first animal we saw was a horse in continuous pain. It did not put any weight on the right front leg and the other legs were also giving up. The poor muscle condition showed that the horse had been lame and in pain for long already. The horse should have been treated or put down. Keeping it alive like that is animal cruelty.

There was also a donkey with such a tight harness that it had sunk in the soft tissue of the donkey's muzzle.

One family turned away right away, because animals (cows, sheep) were on pasture and the children would have needed to wait for 5 hours to see the animals properly.

The laguna is not a laguna, but an artificial pond, interesting only for children. The place was not clean, there was trash in water and on ground.

Interesting place

The fresh products they offer such as milk, cheese and bread are affordable and very tasty. The place is old but still in good shape. The cows that follow when called by their names are the center of attention here.

Just so-so

It's a beautiful hacienda and the dulce de leche was yummy. However, I wasn't crazy about the "cow show"....maybe they were rushing because the rain was coming, maybe it was the crack of the whip I didn't like, but I just wasn't crazy about it. I feel like people hyped it up a lot and all the cows did was leave the pasture according to their name and walk in front of you while being yelled at.
What I DID like was the hike to the waterfalls we did afterwards. It was included in the same tour.

Beautiful property the shows the progression of Peru's agriculture. The cows are disciplined and put on a good show. Beware, very crowded with tourists.

If you have nothing better to do

It is really a tourist trap, especially if your guide stops before you get to the hacienda and you are induced to taste and buy local cheese. They are proud of their cheese, but if you come from Europe it would be a disappointment. Local cheese in Peru is nothing special, so it may be a good buy considering national production.
The hacienda has nothing to offer apart from the "cow call". They call the cows by their name and they come and go their place in the stable.

Main attraction: cow's call

It's funny just watch who they call each cow by its name and they came to center of the hacienda. Inside the hacienda there are some Peruvian antiques, perfect to cultural lovers! Enjoy.

Nothing special

Do not waste your time coming here to see a few cows and buy some fresh dairy products, it is a tourist trap! The dairy products were all very good but it is not worth spending time there as there are very limited facilities and only one main dairy shop and the church and restaurant there are often closed which we found out by one of the locals.

The place is fantastic. Yo can get good pictures. Delicious snacks and enjoy with a tour guide. It could be very hot.
