Delightful colonial building containing the Men's Hospital
Nov 2018 • Friends
Just happened to be here on the anniversary of the last Inca King capture and execution so more open access to historical places. We were staying opposite the church of Belen complex and enjoyed exploring not only the church but across the courtyard was the chapel used as the men's or soldiers hospital. small open fronted cavern/cells had space for several planks of wood to form a bed for sick soldiers and small recess for a candle to burn. The chapel at the end & adjoining rooms now used as an art gallery. Other buildings appear to be used as admin and offices - worth a nose in.

Your ticket to the "Ransom Room" gets you in here as well. It's pleasant but not earthshaking. We enjoyed the adjacent art exhibit.

Nice

Very ornate and interesting church with loads of history. Would be good to take a tour as this church played a significant role in Cajamarca’s history.

Worth the 5 Soles entry

Well worth the visit. Very interesting. Has a good clean 'banos hygenicos'. The interior of the church is quite fun and well decribed in the LP guide

Lovely church in Cajamarca
Mar 2016 • Friends
This church is now used for many things. A guard is posted outside. Right in the middle of town. An interesting stop.

Combo Ticket Location
Sep 2016
The church is the first place on the Combination Ticket. You get entry to Belen, The Women's Hospital, The Ransom Room, The Ethnic Museum and the Archaeological Museum. To pay separately would have been disappointing but for s/5 to all the attractions it wasn't so bad.
The church is rather pretty, no photos allowed inside. We met a nice lady on the register who only charged us s/2 for the ticket because she thought we were nice people!

Unusual cupola
Sep 2016 • Couples
This church has an unusual cupola. In the annex there is sometimes art exhibitions. The extrnsl grounds have a charm. I wouldnt rank it as a must see but its included on the museum ticket you buy to bisit other sites in cajamarca

Historical value
Aug 2016 • Couples
As part of the history of Cajamarca, this is one example of the Spanish robbing the natives of their own religious sites and rituals and imposing their own. Although the architecture is notable, the building has not been maintained, is not photo friendly.

A lovely church in a lovely part of town
Aug 2016 • Couples
The church and the small square in front of it are a great photo opportunity.

It's only a block or so from the main square and the surrounding area is very nice as well.

Worth a visit.
