Amazing

This might be different for everyone. Amazing on how many years ago the people carved into deep rock! Very steep into the cliff side after being up in the Andes mountains. When you don’t live here this is something to visit as you will remember.

Entry ticket overcharged, very near the city.

I took a combi to get to there as it is very near the city. The site itself is very small and basically only the Ventana which I could visit within 20 minutes, but the entrance fee was quite expensive in comparison to what I expected to see.
I don't think it is a must visit site but can do it if you have 2 hours fee time.

Beautiful, historical location
Sep 2019
This spot on the edge of Cajamarca is beautiful and historic. At the top (not that hard a climb), we had a local woman selling cactus fruit, peeled for us--a real treat! Definitely worth the trip out. We were able to take a taxi out and got a combi back to the middle of town for one sole.

Easy S1 collectivo ride to Otzuco. A very interesting place. If in Cajamarca, go and visit. Also try the cactus fruit the ladies sell when you walk round.

Interesting insight into Pre-Incan burial culture
Nov 2018 • Friends
Set opposite a river that gives a clue as to why this part of Peru being so productive in cheese making and dairy production the niches are an uneven climb upto the barrier that separates you from these cliff side burial chambers. There is some info and we had a local guide to give background and development of the use of these chambers undeniably used by successive invaders in this hilly area.It would be great to see some of the chamber covers in situ but still the scale of the tombs made me curious of rituals in Cajamarca society a 1 thousand years before the Incas and 1400 years B.C. Worth the trip eiher get a taxi negotiate a fare inadvance or take a half day tour goes to the botanical garden & cheese shop/farm amid loads of stops for shopping - - inexpensive tour all in Spanish so take it with a pinch/glass of Pisco Sour and enjoy exploring the local area by minivan and bumpy unsealed roads

Be prepare to walk up and down, walk slowly...you will be impressed on those ventanillas de otuzco. Take your time there, some people say it was a place for the Inca to rest, nap or sleep.

The road to the place is kind of beautiful, the trek is not for all ages, the major attraction in the area.

The place is not so special because you can find the same old cementeries at least in three diferentes places but if the weather is nice you can appreciate the way the old locals carved the stone for preserve the corpses.

The best part was the combi ride
Aug 2018 • Solo
You can take combi in the central market. Many people have posted the instruction and I followed the instruction. It is very easy and the driver will let you off in front of the entrance.

When done, you can take combi to Bano del Incas in the front. I suggest you kill two birds. I walked and it took me about one hour. You have to walk the streets, so I recommend taking a bus to Bano and save the walk for the better scenery.

Overall, the trip was very good.
