You can walk there or take a taxi, our guide took us via taxi. There are small children that will sing for you, it was very nice to hear some carnival coplas.
You can take awesome pictures of the whole city

I suggest taking a taxi to the top and then, if you are fit, walk down the steps back to the Plaza de Armas. Our taxi cost us S/.5 and entrance to the gardens above Santa Apolonia was S/.1 each. The view over the city and of the mountains is excellent. We were the only visitors to the gardens and we only saw a few people during the whole visit.

Worth the short climb up the steps to see a great view over Cajamarca.
Plus some amusing statues along the way.

not a terrible hill but it lacks that extra touch to be a great hill. It definitely could be worse but it was not too impressive. Go on Sunday to see a very cool market on the way there.

We climbed up all the stairs and were rewarded by amazing views of the valley and city of Cajamarca. The climb is doable if you go slowly. There are little shops along the way to rest in and shop.
It is one sole to go up past the Church. Nice park area there. This is near the Plaza de Armas. You can take a taxi if you are not up to the hike up, After hiking up we walked down the back side into the area on the other side.

Yes there are a lot of stairs to the top of the Apolonia and when you're almost at the top they'll hit with you a s/2 entry ticket but the views are incredible. If you come in from the back of the hill and walk up, there is no ticket charge. We sat under a tree at the top and enjoyed a picnic of local cheeses, meats and wine while the sun went down. That was lovely.

You can't visit beautiful Cajamarca City without walking up the pretty steps to the little Santa Apolonia chapel and gardens. It's a pretty view from the top and the gardens are nice, if a bit dry and desert-like. The walk itself is easy for adults and children alike.

Picture perfect location, wonderful views from the highest point. I took a taxi to the top, then walked down, just avoid it between 12-3, because the souvenir stores are usually closed. Take your time coming down the hill.

Well worth the 1s entrance to stroll around the gardens and stone steps and enjoy the views over Cajamarca. You can even see the carved Incan's throne where they ruled over the city.

Beautiful place to chill out and enjoy the sun with a beer or with your kids. I recommend to go in the morning in the rainy season, from January to april.
