Beautiful Scenery
Oct 2020
We visited in October when the peak of traffic had passed which made out tour around the area very easy and we were able to stop easily enough to take in the magnificent scenery.

Lovely views
Sep 2020
A great place to stop and admire the views, plenty of parking either at the village or by the bridge. Spectacular views of the bridge and causeway worth while walking across for views of the sea Loch.

Stunning Views
Mar 2020
Stunning views from the Causeway across the Kyle of Tongue towards the village of Tongue, The Kyle and Ben Tongue and across to Castle Varrich and Ben Loyal .There are several small free parking areas on the Causeway and a slipway.

warm welcome for wet walkers

Wet and windy day, great views across the bay. A bridge spans the tongue and we walked across this - having parked our campervan up for the night at the hostel (which had good showers but the grounds were a bit soggy). Walked back into the village for a cuppa and cake

One of the calling cards of the NC500
Aug 2019
The Kyle of Tongue is one of the calling cards of the NC500. It’s a shallow sea loch featuring a rocky coastline. Its mouth is formed at Tongue Bay. Tongue is situated on the Kyle's Eastern shore and the loch is crossed by the Kyle of Tongue Bridge and Causeway which makes the impressive image you will be familiar with. From a purely tourist point of view I struggled taking pictures to do it justice. I know I’m no born photographer, but I found that tricky. The views however from the causeway across the loch with the Highland beyond are stunning and magical.

When the tide is out the estuary becomes a mass of golden sand flats with splendid mountain views. The Rabbit Islands are a short way out to see and there is no mistaking you are in the Highlands. There are parking laybys along the causeway, but of course if you are on it you can’t really take a picture of it! I found myself driving back and forth a few times to take pics from different spots. It’s very atmospheric with the road crossing through the loch as it does.

Absolutely stunning scenery looking outward over the water and towards the castle on the hill, we stopped here for lunch and will always remember it for it's breathtaking beauty. We could really have spent longer here just trying to take it all in ..food for the soul..so proud of our country.

Ever changing view
Aug 2019 • Couples
We are staying on the East side overlooking The Kyle of Tongue. What a place. Not just the views but the whole feel of the place is amazing. Constant renewing of the tides brings more enjoyment. Lots of bird life through raptors, sea birds and waders. The west side has a delightful beach to wander along.

beautiful in rain and in sunshine

It's well worth a hike to go down to the sands to see the fishermen in the early morning wading out. Gorgeous views from above, if you take the road up going towards Altnaharra. Great views from the castle ruin as well.
