I've visited this coffee shop a few times pre pandemic and always enjoyed both eat out experience & the food. Sadly today I was so disappointed. Whilst having precautions of hand gel & queuing signs in place it was clear that staff couldn't be bothered with the inconvenience of having to speak & give direction to customers as to what system they had in place & also what food was on offer. I felt very uncomfortable.
I was then very disappointed to have my sit in the coffee shop food passed to me in paper cups and paper bags, including sandwiches which were pre-packed. If I had wanted a takeaway lunch I would have gone to the bakers and certainly not been charged coffee shop price for it.
We visited for the whole going out experience, nice cups, plates etc. There's no need to add to the throw away society (even though recyclable), other establishments are managing to deliver services on proper plates & cups using dishwashers to clean.
On a positive the homebaking is delicious.
Sorry but even nice baking wouldn't be enough to get me back just now until I hear things have improved.

I'm sorry that you found your visit to Woodside disappointing and didn't appreciate our signs to help customers know where to go and what to do. All business are adapting to operating in this time of a global pandemic, and many cafes have chosen not to open just yet, as it is so difficult to manage in a way that keeps everyone safe - staff and visitors. Obviously, the way we are having to operate just now is far from "normal", and our prices in the tearoom have been reduced to reflect this., but at the moment it is a way that is keeping everyone safe, and most of our customers appreciate this, and luckily we are busier than ever at this time. Hopefully you'll feel comfortable returning to Woodside once all safety restrictions have been lifted in Scotland and normality has been restored.

Visited on Wednesday 9th June with 4 other friends we immediately unwelcome although the table was pre booked, was as if the staff could not be bothered with our custom. The bacon was absolutely awful the worst Iv ever eaten! My wife’s sandwich came after everyone else had eaten and had to ask again for it. The gardens were gorgeous but won’t be back to visit again.

Great cafe with good covid measures. The sandwiches were wonderfully fresh with local produce.. Just had to stop again on the way back to Perthshire. Oh yes and just happened to squeeze in a victoria plum tree into the car. Got some great advice from the garden centre.

My wife and I have visited the garden centre and tearoom many times over the years. The tearoom is a must visit if you are in the garden centre. Food is always good with a wide choice. The staff are always friendly and helpful.
The garden centre is well stocked with excellent quality plants. The staff are very knowledgeable, friendly and always willing to help and answer any questions.

My favourite place to have a 'soup and sandwich' lunch, usually followed by cake! All home made and delicious, with interesting sandwich fillings. Friendly staff and an added bonus - sit and watch all the garden birds on the feeders outside the windows, including tree sparrows and nuthatches. Only one small complaint - I wish the seats were a bit more comfortable. Perhaps I should remember to take a cushion.

First and last visit to Woodside, £16:58 for two coffees and two sandwiches. The sandwiches were limp and lacking fillings, coffee was drunk long before they arrived. Really disappointed and complete rip off

Hello Craig, as I said on our Facebook page where you also published an unfavourable review, I'm sorry your visit to Woodside didn't meet your expectations. This appears to be a one-off incident as we have just enjoyed our busiest ever day's trading in the tearoom in what is proving to be our most successful season to date. What a shame you didn't complain to my manager at the time of your visit - she would happily have arranged extra coffees for you and would have organised a fresh batch of sandwiches. I hope you feel able to visit Woodside again to give us another chance to impress you, and would encourage you to try some of our well-known home-made baking and to enjoy a walk around our free gardens. Emma

On a day out we popped in for a look around the gardens which were nice. Stopped at the cafe for a bite to eat. Must say the cafe was fairly busy but we only wanted a sandwich and a coffee. Once seated our coffees were brought straight out, after watching people come and go for 20 minutes and had finished our coffees a young waitress passed. I asked how long our food would be. Granted she went away and asked, meanwhile two other tables that came in after us were served their food. The young girl came back and said ours was the next order to be worked on......eh!! How was ours the next when people who had ordered after us got served before us? Altogether the food was pretty poor. £5.99 for a sandwich served with a couple of salad leaves a whole cherry tomato 3 slices of cucumber and spoon of coleslaw. For two sandwiches and two coffees it came to £16.58
Very pricey for what you get and the service poor.

Did a detour to go to the tearoom for lunch after seeing great reviews. Social distancing and cleaning was extremely evident to the point of staff making you feel like a contaminated, unwanted visitor. Lunch was the choice of a refrigerated pre-packed sandwich or a take-away cup of soup. Coffee was revolting; tasteless and weak. Total cost was £12.
Cakes were available but we had lost interest by then.

I'm so sorry you were disappointed in our tearoom. We have made the decision to currently serve all our food and drinks in disposable packaging in order to keep both staff and customers safe during the pandemic. Our menu is currently restricted due to limited seating capacity caused by the requirement to adhere to social distancing, and to reduce overcrowding in our food preparation areas. Our sandwiches, whilst served in packs rather than on a plate with a side salad, are freshly made each day. I'm pleased that you noticed our social distancing measures of 2 metres and our cleaning regime - that shows the tearoom staff are doing their job properly in keeping everyone safe in accordance with Scottish Government guidelines. The coffee we serve is a very popular brew and we have been using this brand for many years now, and seems to suit most, but evidently not all tastes. Obviously, our tearoom is not operating in quite the same way as usual, but we are pleased to be open after being closed for so long, and we are enjoying catching up with all our customers, both old and new, who are appreciating the opportunity to get out and about.

I'm surprised the tearoom hasn't had more and better reviews because I thought it was a rather good and well run establishment in a rather attractive setting. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area and seeking refreshment (eg visiting Monteviot House), and if you're a local then probably worth checking out their occasional evening openings for a bistro-style meal.
