Sepiolite AKA meerschaum is white clay that is soft to carve, but after exposure to UV or sun light, hardens. Often used to make pipes. As fewer & fewer pipe smokers, they carve other trinkets now. Can't find anything interesting else. Guess I should start...More

Small displays of meerschaum for an older world wide event. Too many shops to really call it a museum

We went here while looking around the historic centre of town. The museum isn't the largest but it doesn't disappoint. Some of the pipes are incredible. We recommend this stop for anyone visiting this city.

It's really more of display cases with hand-crafted pieces of meerschaum than a traditional "museum." It's interesting, with a lot of great pieces of work/art, though. And it's free, so it's definitely worth popping in to take a look at.

Lületaşı is a kind of stone for whittling. Artists can cut and shape it easily. But it's getting harder in time. It's a white and nice stone. Artists make pipes with great gravures.
