Banana Plantation and a Farm by Tuk Tuk from Costa Adeje

42 reviews
The Caldera del Rey is a vast, shallow crater with banana groves and protected parkland—one of Tenerife’s natural highlights—but it lies a bit beyond walking distance from nearby towns. This tour takes you from Puerto Colon to the Caldera del Rey monument via tuk-tuk—a small, fun three-wheeled vehicle—for a guided walk in a banana plantation and farm. End the tour with a stop in a farm shop for a smoothie made with local products.

This is a pleasant green oasis worth exploring but the really interesting thing is the old town stone gate which lies just adjacent and below the square. It is a survivor of the volcanic eruption and shows how much higher the modern town is than its predecessor.

Doesn't look much from outside, but as you walk inside the gardens seem to wrap themselves around you & draw you in. Set out on many levels the whole place is a relaxing place to walk round. Unfortunately the old Wine Press is cordoned off as the roof above it is in need of repair. By the time you reach the top of the parque you have a great view from above. Well worth a visit.

The gardens themselves are quite small with lots of steps and different levels. Not suited to people with reduced mobility. Interesting plaques and lovely plants. The plaza itself is also interesting as it is surrounded by houses with typical Canadian style wooden balconies. A lovely place to sit awhile but very busy.

A lovely little plaza with a beautiful garden in memory of Juan Gonzales de la Torre. A good selection of plants, trees and some pretty, colourful flowers on which a few large attractive butterflies were feeding. This shady retreat is the perfect place to escape from the heat of the midday sun.
