    Beautiful Drive
It is a beautiful drive out the cape to the parking lots for Formentor Beach. From there you take a city bus out to the lighthouse. The cost is 2€ per person each way. When we were there in June, they were running about every thirty minutes. We thought the seats on the left side of the bus provided the best view on the way out to the light, and the ones on the right were better on the return. You should plan to go early in the day since the parking lots fill up fast.

Daring drive, but well worth it!
Listed as one of the most iconic drives in the world, there is nothing quite like it!!! I cannot count the number of hairpin turns and the death defying views over cliff drops, but the ride is absolutely breath taking. If you are a nervous/anxious driver, this drive is NOT for you. There are bikers all along the road, so patience and an appreciation for the ride is a must! I recommend renting a small wheel based vehicle that is easy to maneuver and that hugs the road well. We had a two door Mini Cooper, which was perfect! If you appreciate the workmanship of God's creation, you will not want to come to Mallorca and not visit Formentor Lighthouse. The Lighthouse itself is not nearly as iconic as is the ride to getting to it. Simply beautiful!

    Top site on Mallorca
This is a must-do, IMO, if you’re coming to Mallorca. The views are spectacular and the drive is nerve wracking but a lot of fun. Just keep your eyes on the road. This is a drive for which those tiny Fiats come in handy. Do this! You won’t regret it.

    A must!
Visiting the Formentor Lighthouse is a must while staying in Mallorca. Drive carefully and keep in mind that this place cannot be accessed by car during the summer peak time only by small buses. The view was great and the wind was heavy upon our visit in late October 2023.

    Just stunning!
Road cycled to the Formentor lighthouse. The road over was challenging but if you are on an eBike it would be straight forward. The views were amazing along the route and on arrival. Car traffic built up slowly over the morning so best to go earlier. If travelling by car it does get very busy and we were told the road is not open to cars at certain times of the year. Well worth the trip out - just stunning!

After spending the day in Pollenca/Port de Pollenca we drove up to the lighthouse just in time for the sunset. The road is very treacherous with other drivers, sharp turns and tight lanes and not to mention the goats that come out of know where!
Once we arrived at the lighthouse the road was chaos with people trying to both park and leave so we parked at the bottom and walked up.
The lighthouse is cute and the views are beautiful as the sun sets behind the mountains. We stayed there until it went dark and most of the crowds had drove back and then set off slowly.

The road is open to cars after the 15th Sept ( we had read other reviews about the road being closed after 10am but this is not the case), however it is very busy. We arrived just after 11am and managed to get one of the last car park spaces on the road and then after that the queues began.
Very windy at the lighthouse but worth the drive out, beware lots of cyclists on the road

The lighthouse is located ontop a steep cliff. Once there the views of Mallorca, Menorca and the sea are stunning. The drive to get there is beautiful and perhaps a bit freightning for some. Just beware of the many (annoying) cyclist going down this road as well who somtimes drive like the own the place / have a death whish. The number of parking place is limited and finding a spot can be a real challange. So try and pick a more quit moment ot go there and enjoy the views!

We wanted to revisit this far northern lighthouse this year, but found the road closed close to Playa Formentor.
We were informed that during the high season (Jun-Aug) you can only park there and take the bus to the Cap. It makes sense as I remember from my previous visit, it was almost impossible to park up there at the end of the road.

Took a drive to see the light house. Roads are closed during the day in the summer months, however we were there in September so was able to visit.

However, the suitability for cars at the light house is not great to say the least so arrive knowing it could be somewhat mayhem.

There are a good few stops for the views along the way also but again finding a space for your car will be the challenge.

The road to the lighthouse is closed from June 15 - September 15 to cars. You can only get there by tour bus or bicycle during that time. We were in Mallorca last week and ended up renting a jet ski in Port d'Alcúdia and riding around the coast until we got there. It was beautiful from below if crowded your buses aren’t your thing.

The Formentor Lighthouse was built in 1863 at an elevation of 119 m ( 390 ft) above sea level. The lighthouse itself is closed, you cannot visit inside only walk around, take pictures and simply admire the breathtaking views. We were in low season and there was no parking , already so many cars blocking the road, you have to leave your car somewhere safe and walk up to the lighthouse..even worse if you are hoping to see the sunset..Apparently in the summer, in high season , there are shuttles to take you up to lighthouse. Due to the narrowness road (10.9km long) and the drop offs + cliffs, this road is pretty scary however the views are fantastic ..Best to be an experienced driver or cyclist on this road.
