The Logarska Dolina area is often listed as an afterthought or secondary side trip on many travel iteneraries planned. I would recommend you move that up to a primary "must see" locale if you're visiting Slovenia or southern Austria. The scenery here is absolutely breathtaking; massive mountains surrounding fabulously green valleys all pretty easily accessible. Stay in Luce if you stay overnight, or day trip from Ljubljana or Lake Bled. Opening your eyes here is like seeing what you imagine Europe to look like; alpine beauty all around. And, stop at the tourist information center (Center Rinka) in Solcava for details about the high mountain pass drive that is just about the town. It's worth it and only takes about 30+ minutes, but provides some of the best views of alpine mountains I've ever seen....and, some super cute churches, bee keeping villages, etc. You will be rewarded with a visit here to Logarska Dolina! [There is a waterfall hike at the end of the road in the central valley (Logarska Dolina) that is very pretty...but, more strenuous than I think is worth if for most travelers; and nearly impossible for elderly or handicapped folks. I'd skip it unless you have endless amounts of time and love to hike....about a 20 minute hike up to the waterfall.]

It was total revelation to visit that valley. I read that it's beautiful but haven't realised how amazing it is. Our first glimpse of it made us hold our breath. Vivid greenery of grass and trees and dominating mountains covered with the snow. Numerous opportunities for walk, several pretty waterfalls. Entrance with the car costs 7 euros. Pedestrians and cyclists are free to enter. In the valley there are lovely restaurants and terraces with nice selection of refreshments. We left our car half way to Savica waterfall and hiked for 7km return trip which was very nice. For lazy people there are parking spaces at each attraction. Highly recommend on a sunny day, it's simply incredible.

We decided for the family hike (two kids 10 and 7) from the middle of the valley (Dom Planincev) where we parked the car to the Rinka Waterfall and then to the Frischaufov dom na Okrešlju. Even if it is the real mountain hike, it is feasible for the kids. They liked the hilly part even more then the first and the last part from the parking lot to the waterfall. It took us 4 hrs up and 3 hrs back with many stopovers.

Scenery is truly beautiful, one could easily just sit there, relax and enjoy the alpine views. Waterfall Rinka is also quite a sight. There are a few more "attractions" you might see there, but they are just OK, nothing spectacular. We decided to take just a day trip there and if you want just to walk around and enjoy the views, that will be enough. But if hiking is your thing, there are a lot of trails you may take and spend more than a day there. Anyway, it's worth a visit. There is a 7 EUR entrance just for a car.

Tucked away in a remote corner of northern Slovenia is this stunning valley with mountain ridges on either side. There is a pleasant forest drive from the main road that leads past various accommodation options. Along the way there are numerous short side trips to caves and waterfalls but there is limited parking.
The highlight is at the end of the valley and the 90 metre tall Rinka Waterfall. This is a short 15 minute walk from the carpark on a rough but graded track. It is a nice fall to view from the bottom.
We continued on from here towards Frischauf Hut. The path is quite difficult despite what the website says. It is a constant climb up with hardly an even section except when crossing the stream that forms the waterfall. Markers are hap hazard and in places rock scrambling takes over walking. After a solid hour we had had enough and the weather was closing in so we turned back. The views as we climbed were great but it was really hard work. As we descended we observed a small avalanche nearby reminding us how volatile a mountainous area can be.
Food options are extremely limited. There is a tiny café half way up the waterfall but it is on a separate path to the waterfall ascent itself and only serves beverages. For meals the best option is to visit one of the hotels scattered along the valley who put on a good meal.
Overall an excellent area to visit and the more time you have the better.

This is one of the most beautiful valleys I have visited – take a look at my attached photos and you will understand. Lonely planet has listed this magnificent landscape park as one of the most beautiful alpine valleys in Europe. If you are looking for a peaceful break then this location is definitely worth a look into. There are a small entrance fee (EUR 7).

Our highlight was the hike to slap Rinka (Rinka waterfall).

Been there few times, in summer and winter. In summer there is a fee if you want to visit the park with a car, I think it is about 7 euros per car. In winter the entrance is free. In both seasons the nature is gorgeous. Many routes for walking, the highlight is visiting slap Rinka. There are few cozy restaurants with delicious food. Be sure not to miss visiting natural spring of mineral water that is full of iron and other minerals. It's really worth the visit.

Either side of Logar Valley are Robanov Kot and Matkov Kot, which are nowhere so crowded in summer, Robanov Kot is not so spectacular but is a real working valley and Matkov Kot really only being accessible by foot. Both were crammed with wild flowers and totally unspoiled

Been in Logar valley for three day's with the intention of 2 days hiking and 1 cycling.
Well, the hiking was good, a lot of waterfall's and beautiful nature, really don't regret it.
As cycling goes...it didn't happen. The valley has only 7km of cycling routes and the bikes for rental are avrage and below avarege.

It's trully an isolated valley, good for relaxation and hiking, but that's it.
2 day's are enough (my opinion).

We stayed in Solčava at Gregorc-Ambrož (turistic farm), the stay was really pleasent, so was the food.
