The Fortress on the Acropolis overlooking the old town of Nafplio is fun to explore and makes an impressive backdrop to this fascinating city. As one of three fortresses that guard Napflio, the Akronafplia Fortress is often overshadowed by the larger Palamida fortress that looms...More

A good and interesting walk along the ramparts with stunning views. Make sure you save the legs by catching the lift hidden underneath the mountain at the end of the point.

I liked this fortress, it is huge, strong built, it offers beautiful views. It is an important attraction point if you are visiting Napflio.

The fortress is located adjacent to the Nafplia Palace Hotel where we were staying, so it was easily accessible. We enjoyed touring the Archeological site and the spectacular views of Nafplion and the Harbor.

The fortress is a great place to take a photo wether it be of the castle from the promenade or the castle of the beautiful Nafplio. The castle is one of the most photographed landmarks in the Peloponnese, simply stunning.

As you enter the city via the harbor by boat / ship make sure you are outside to see the Akronafplia Fortress that is in the middle of the harbor. Worth the views and a photo snap.
