For many centuries one of the most impressive in the city
Feb 2020
It’s a beautiful place of worship, dating from the 15th century. Soft light hues lend an absorbing attraction to the exterior and facades.

It is renowned for the great iconostasis, highly embellished with holy images. A vision along the nave lined with fabulous chandeliers and bounded by slender columns is marvellous.

An awe-inspiring ceiling is gloriously crowning. A splendid throne and pulpit are further evidence of the church’s importance in the life of the city.

Best church I visited
Oct 2019
This elaborate church is really worth a visit if you are in the area of Nafplio's Syntagma Square. I sat there for twenty minutes and was interested that though there were only two other tourists, a Japanese couple, there were about 8 Greeks (on a weekday morning) who stopped in for a devotional visit. They kissed the icons and a couple lit candles. I thought it was a little window into Greek religious life.

Nice Church in town
Aug 2019
Church of Panaghia is located near the Agamemnon Hotel. It has impressive history with attractive icons and fresco ceiling. The internal decorations are more stunning that the external facade.

Amazing ornate church
May 2019 • Couples
This is a small church with a relatively plain exterior but with a stunningly ornate interior. Well worth a look - the walls are covered in icons and there's a fabulous gilded altar, marble pillars, fresco ceiling and more. Easy to find on the corner of Ilia Miniati and Farmakopoulon, just opposite the Antica Gelateria ice cream shop.

Historic Church in “Old City” Nafplio.
Oct 2018
This historic church is located just around the corner from the Agamemnon Hotel where we were staying. We had the opportunity to visit several times and, also, to attend Sunday Liturgy there.
The church has an impressive history and is extensively decorated with religious iconography.
It is well-worth a visit.

Beautiful, beautiful church
Oct 2018 • Solo
I returned to this church several times when I stayed in Nafplio. It is open often and encourages visits. It is not the most famous churches in town. The most famous I guess is the one outside of which the first president of independent Greece was shot, but this one is so much more beautiful with radiant icons throughout. It's in the center of town and hard to miss.

Beautiful inside, don't miss this
Dec 2017 • Family
We visited here to see the beauty of a Greek church. It was so beautiful and very busy on Christmas Day with worshippers. We were able to quietly see the inside paintings. Worth a visit.

A beautiful and historic church - essential to visit
Oct 2017 • Couples
One of the oldest and most historic churches in the city, it should be visited along with the Church of St George, as both date originally from the Venetian period of the 15th century. This church was originally quite small and was extended around 1700. The bell tower was added in the early 20th century.

The beautifully-carved wooden chancel screen, pulpit and bishop's throne are 19th century. The walls and ceilings are covered with paintings above the huge chandeliers, typical of Greek Orthodox churches.
