Interesting experience. Small entry fee. Nice walk to the old village. The views from the tower are stunning. Although the museum part was not fully operational in May it was still a great experience. Notice boards around the site explained the history of each building.

It is a very well preserved castle, which is impressive to see. The historical information provided is limited.

The house area needs a souvlaki stand inside. MOURTZINOS palace usually teaches students how Ionian structures follow in new Greek, European, Roman styles. Understanding possible historic inconsistencies should be understood more.

The fortified complex of Troupakis-Mourtzinos is well worth visiting. Well layer out and informative exhibits give a good picture of what life was like for the inhabitants over the centuries.

Visit early in the morning for the peace and to see the views without other tourists. There is a lovely cafe nearby for refreshments.

Worth a visit, place for a coffee or snack on site. Good views from the castle, easy walking for anyone.

Mourtzino Castle is only a short walk from the town centre. This is an excellent place to come and learn about the history of the region and the families that lived here. The buildings are in a good condition so you can really picture what life was like. We visited the castle twice during our stay. The first time we did not have to pay but the second time we were charged a small fee because the museum was open. There is a taverna next to the castle which is a good place to seek shade from the sun. The old town is worth a visit which is next to the castle. The narrow streets, old buildings and colourful gardens makes this an excellent place to take photographs.

We knew there were some older buildings in Kardamili, but they were not obvious. Then as we went into the Fotini supermarket I noticed the tower.
We crossed the road, and saw a sign for the Mourtzinos Tower, but then we came to a parking area which said it was private, and only for hotel guests.
We hesitated, and nearly didn't go up, but there was another sign for the tower, so we carried on round.
I'm so glad we did.
The history I have been reading about in Patrick Leigh Fermor's book came to life.
And only €2 each.
Shame about the rain, otherwise the views would have been even better.

For the princely sum of €2 each, the ‘Old Town’ experience is excellent value with the nicely restored tower house complex available to look around. Whilst not a life changing attraction, well worth a visit and the pleasant walk to get there
