When one arrives at Chora of Kythira and strolls around the "Sokakia" (tiny streets) it is important to walk up to the Venetian Castle. Not only the castle itself is very interesting but the view is outstanding

The castle is preserved in a great way however they only turn lights on after 10pm which is a real shame as this is a tourist attraction and they should lit it from 8pm during summer peak season.

Nice old castle with great view of kithira and island hitra. Not many other things to see, however it is clean and well preserved. Some old canons here and there, as well.

Bus Routes (5 Replies)
Hi all, Does buses run on a regular schedule on Sat and Sun at the end of August? Do we need to carry exact change like Athens? I am planning to explore some areas near Mama Thira's house, in Fira, than PYRGOS VILLAGE, Venetian castle, and Akrotiri Archaeological Site from my hotel Stelios Rooms - Louka Nomikoy 11, Oía, 84702, Greece. Could you please help me with the bus routes please. Thank you, Anita Thank you, Anita

Venetian Castle Naxos City (12 Replies)
I'm looking for more information on attending a concert at the Venetian Castle... Has anyone attended a concert here before? How do you purchase tickets or find out a time schedule? I saw that they have a Sunset Concert series on Wednesdays, but I'm not sure how to actually get the tickets for it. We will be traveling in July!

The conserts are announced on posters all over Naxos. Different conserts on different days - classical, folk dance, folk music. Tickets are bought at the Venetian Museum in the Castle itself. Most of the conserts are at the time of sun-set.
