We found this place by luck and it was the best time I had on Crete. The location did it for my girlfriend I. It is hidden by a 2K hike down the side of a mountain, so its not for kids or the elderly. This made it more exclusive for the adults. River water and ocean are crystal clear,... More

The beach is difficult to enter due to large rocks and a steep drop at the water's edge. Very little fine sand. The bathrooms were deplorable

Very secluded and picturesque. Gorgeous sky blue seas, a natural oasis with palm trees just behind the main beach. It really is something you see on a post card. There is a walkway through the oasis that you can go down to inspect the natural habitat at a closer look which is stunning. The walk to the beach itself although... More

Taking nothing away from the Beach at Plakias, for a small adventure, take a boat ride, for a bigger adventure rent a car for the day. If you have a car or have a ride go to the other beaches. Great to take the bus over to other beaches. The Hostel is/was 1 winding country road from the beach and... More

My tour group took a boat over to the beach and I'm glad we did! It's so lush compared to the other beaches around, and there are trails through the gorge to explore!

The sun was dripping over the hills in golden and flamingo pinkish lights, coloring the tree tops and the hills as it ascended the throne of the sky, turning to stark white light, and suddenly, the saturated pinkish light disappeared, absorbed by the green apple trees where we've stopped to take a rest from the long road. Despite the undisturbed... More

We drove to the beach entrance at the top of the hill. Once we got there we parked the car and walked down the steep steps to the beach. The view along the walk is gorgeous. Once you are in the ocean the water is pretty warm. You can buy food and beer but I brought my own snack as... More

Best accessed by boat from Plakias Harbour (regular trips throughout the day) but also from the car park on the cliffs above (there are lots of steps - great going down...bit of a bugger going back up !), this is a beautiful, exclusive beach with both sand and shingle and a freshwater lagoon, with palm trees, behind it. Great for... More

Colors did not particularly fascinated by but feel like you're in the tropics walking palms trees! It is interesting to bathe in the river!

First, do be aware of the steps - there are several hundred, and they're difficult and rough (there's an alternative route with fewer steps, but it involves a decent walk, unless you have a jeep or similar). If this is not a problem for you, it's a really lovely beach. Can get crowded at peak times, and there's not a... More
