A perfect day on this beach. Not crowded (we came here on a Thursday) with beds and parasol for 5€. Beautiful scenery, nice light and transparent water, perfect for snorkeling. Good space to put you towel if you don’t want to pay for bed &...More
Small beach with free sunbeds, in the afternoon it can get quite vavy and there are some rocks on the right side as you enter the water, you can really hurt your feet. Good for a relaxing couple afternoon.
Remote beach located in the adjacent bay to the nudist beach. It is a lovely beach within a small bay and a little taverna too. It has brick built toilets (not the best) and a nice place to catch the sun. Very good.
We visited one windy afternoon in the hopes that this was a more sheltered cove but were really disappointed! There isn't much of a set up at all, with a long sandy parking area that merges into the beach. It was very quiet which was...More
Ammoudi beach is 6 km from Plakias ; it is advisable to arrive by car as there are buses but the schedules are not frequent; it is a small beach protected from the northerly winds, with very clear water and almost white sand;the seabed is rocky...More
We went there because of good reviews about snorkeling and were not disappointed. For other to not run confused - there are 3 close beaches at this point - Ammoudi, Ammoudaki or Mikro Ammoudi and Klisidi - the last two are for nudists, the first...More

Have not been in Crete in October but my husband was in Rodos in November and managed to get himself burned in the sun. It has been totally sunny and almost 30 C every day for two weeks now, the same last year. I don't suppose it will change much very quickly. At least now everything is open, full holiday season still going on.
I am going to be staying at a hostel in Fira but I want to watch the sunset at Ammoudi beach. I am wondering if there are buses past sunset back to Fira? On the other hand, are there any youth hostels in Oia? I haven't been able to find any.

Help please! (5 Replies)
Hey all My friend and I will be heading to Greece this October for 10 days. We've decided on Athens, santorini, and Crete. We were wondering the best way to travel in between places. And the best place to stay in Crete. We are wanting to stay close to Ammoudi Beach. But wasn't sure what hostel/hotels/b&bs were close by? And also how much money we should intend on bringing. Any information would be most helpful! Thanks so much. Jen

Birthday Dinner (4 Replies)
Hi all, It's my 30th birthday at the end of June and will be spending it at a lovely Airbnb overlooking Ammoudi Beach. I wondered if anyone had any suggestions for a special restaurant for the evening in the area (or within a taxi journey!). I don't mind the cost but ideally it would have a beautiful view, a good ambience, great food & nice drinks available! Would love to get a cocktail before too if possible (in the same place or somewhere nearby). It'll just be me & my partner. Any...More
