Perfect day out!

The castle was amazing to see and immensely big. We were amazed. It has a maze where you can walk around in. Next to that it has many birds and beautiful flowers which we adored. The museum is definitely worth the visit!! You can get a tour and experience how royals lived years ago. Oh and there is a painting of Rembrandt! One of our favorites so that was great to see. After our walk in the gardens and the visit in the castle itself we sat at the restaurant who had a very extensive card. We sat on the terrace with view on the water and the park! Service was on point! All in all, go and visit!!!

Hidden treasure at the border of Germany en Holland
Jun 2017 • Couples
The surroundings of this Altes Schloss are worth a trip, but the Wasserburg itself is a worth a praise. It is an absolute treat to go and stay here for lunch, drinks or dinner. Quality is superb and if you are lucky and the weather is good you can sit outside at the terrace floating on the water surrounding the old castle.

If you want to surprise your love, take him or her to this history-filled place.

The closest you will get to such amazing pieces of history
Jun 2017 • Family
Normal museums and displays of such amazing pieces of history are surrounded by barriers and glass. This castle, privately owned and operated has 15th century books, maps, 16th century furniture and artworks on display right in front of you. Well worth a visit.

Beautiful
Jul 2016 • Family
The park around the castle is magnificent with the old trees , the birds over the lake and old bridges. The museum inside is lovely and altogether it was a very enjoyable 2-3 hours of visit. We finished the tour with a meal in a wonderful Italian restaurant in the nearby Anholt village center.

Beautiful Gardens and lovely Castle
Sep 2015
A short walk from the car park entry is 13 Euros for Gardens and the Museum. The museum is a series of rooms in the castle, steeped in history and fascinating - the guide could not speak English but kindly lent us a book in English that described the rooms. There is a fantastic library and after a number of interesting rooms, a gallery that houses a great private collection including a Rembrandt. We then had a glass of wine in the restaurant/bar area of the hotel which is particularly welcoming and serves afternoon teas and food as well.

The gardens are remarkable and well preserved, several paths to take, short or long, and there is an interesting labyrinth as well.

This castle, owned by the Fürst Salm - Salm, is outstanding.
It is a museum, a private residence, a hotel, restaurant and surrounded by a great park.
When you come to Anholt you have to visit the museum and the park!
I asked for a private tour in English and we received a great inside of the live in the midevil time. Dungeons, kitchen (below water level), huge library etc. - amazing!
The park is big and the is a hedge labyrinth...nice for small and big kids 😄

Fantastic restored castle
Aug 2014 • Solo
This is one of the best restored castles and grounds you can find. Beautifully set in well kept gardens, this castle is a real gem. The castle also holds a museum that you can visit (guided tours only) and includes a large painting gallery with a Rembrandt.
