These form a Stone Circle and depict Stations of the Cross.
There are 12 Stones, one for each Disciple with carved names and commemorate the Last Supper.
They were erected to mark the Millennium and were consecrated on on the Solstice on 21st June 2000.
A big attraction for tourists.

The view from here is super nice, you can spot tons of peaks all around.
You can go here by hiking from the lake to the top of the hill and reach this stones place.

We had a little walk up this hill after walking around the lake on the other side of the road, a casual walk, starts with steep steps but then an easy walk with good views over Seefeld and of surrounding mountains. And yes there are these big stones / rocks up top on a flat area whch i believe are something spiritual, sorry, dont want to offend anyone, but that part went over my head.

I read about the standing stands on TripAdvisor before i visited Seefeld but found them quite by accident after i had walked around the lake i noticed some people walking up a path on a large grassy mound and so i followed them and thus found Kreuzweg mit Steinkreis and what a found that was! I'm not a religious person at all but certainly thought the stones had a spiritual feel to them and like some of the other reviewers i did found them very tactile. You do get the most magnificent views of the surrounding area and if you follow the wandering path and the stones they take you into the square in Seefeld as the path actually starts on the left-hand side of the beautiful village church.
If you do visit Seefeld then do take this delightful walk up to the standing stones it only takes about 5 minutes from the village square and is so worth it.

I'm not christian. But neither is this "Steinkreis"... ok, the via dolorosa is officially the reason for this. But it's a spiritual place for everybody.

stumbled across this place while on a walk back from the periodic lakes which only occur every seven year. Got the bus to the wildmoos alm (local bus not covered by regional pass - gotcha.
Catch the bus by the chemist soutside the fire station. e2.60 each .After walking around the lakes we stopped at the lottensee hut for coffee and then walked down to mosern through the forest and found the peace bell and some wonderful views. Good place to stop for lunch.
walked back through the woods, signs got a bit confused in Seefeld itself. So we had a radler on the way in the village, and then back for an afternoon cake.
Really liked Seefeld -lots of possibilities for places to go.

A beautiful walk close to Seefeld. Easy to walk also with children. It can be combined with a walk through Seefeld.

The setting is very tranquil and peacefull and it is a place where you just want to sit and contemplate. The park area around the stones is also lovely to explore as thgere are various sculptures to look at. Lovely location.
