Until I broke a bone in my foot that healed funny (and developed an autoimmune condition that limited my stamina), I used to visit new places and walk for 8 - 10 hours each day. Its my favorite way to explore. Now, however, every step feels like I have a pebble in my shoe: uncomfortable. I wasn't sure how much outside the town of Seefeld I'd get to explore when we visited the Alps. The Segway tour opened up new vistas for me, quite literally! I have taken a Segway scooter tour in one other city. That was San Francisco, CA, at Golden Gate Park where it cost significantly more per person than Maximilian's two hour tour in Seefeld in Tirol, Austria. I took the tour to Wild Moos Alm with my teenage son. There is no chance I could have walked up the mountainside to this point in my current condition. On the Segway, I could easily handle the two hour round trip. If you have serious knee issues, the Segway won't solve your problem. Because this tour goes over dirt/gravel/grassy trails, you will feel many bumps and it is best to absorb them with your knees slightly bent. I was surprised by some of the grass/dirt areas we were able to cover on Segways; if I'd been alone, not on a tour, I might not have tried some of the less developed paths we took on the machine. The Segway is great for nature trails because it hums along. It isn't noisy like the quad bikes some people enjoy in nature that can spoil the experience for others. Most people that we passed gave us smiles, not dirty looks, though clearly our unusual presence startled a few. (Again, evidence that the devices aren't too noisy to enjoy in a natural setting.) You get a quick introduction to riding the Segway in the parking lot where you meet owner/operator Maximilian. It is easy to find the starting point. Go to the large Eurospar supermarket (near the train station/Hbf), look across the street, and there is a large pay parking lot. The row of brown garages toward the back is where you meet your host. Most of the Wildmoosalm tour is on paths through natural areas, but you do go along the street (and pedestrian areas) for some short distances. It was always easy to keep up with Max and he made it very clear what to do. In San Francisco, our Segway tour leader had a wireless microphone/headphone system that let him communicate with us. That was nice, but it isn't really necessary in areas where you aren't having monuments pointed out to you as you go along. Just be aware that Segway Tirol doesn't have this kind of communication system; I don't think it makes the experience less good. In San Francisco, helmets were required (by law or by tour operator?), but we had the choice to wear them (we did) or not with Segway Tirol. Similarly, wearing a small backpack was our choice in the Alps, whereas the other operator mandated all personal items be stowed in a special bin. I'm guessing all of this is liability stuff as wearing my small purse didn't make me feel unsafe on the Segway, and I'm a slightly paranoid type who is cautious about personal safety. I got in touch via the website the day before we took our tour. It was no problem scheduling at the last minute, and our "group" was just myself and my son. No extra charge for this "special" tour scheduled at the last minute. I paid cash when we arrived, so I don't know if he accepts credit cards. If you have a GoPro or other wearable camera, this is the time for it. The only negative I can think of for riding a Segway is that your hands are usually on the grips, especially as a novice. Scenery was lovely, but I got very few photos to show for it. Luckily, I try to live in the moment and spend less effort capturing it! Segway Tirol was the most fun thing we did on a two week trip to Europe. My teen loved it. I highly recommend it for the able bodied and those with slight impairments that wish they could still be as active as they once were.

OMG!! So much fun! You can't go wrong with this tour! The gorgeous town, lake , mountains and the forest are absolutely amazing! Max,(the operator) managed to teach us in a very short time not because we were so good but because he is a great and patient instructor! It was our first time on Segway and I was planning to go to town foe a short ride and just wait for my family with a cup of cappuccino. Fortunately, he convinced me otherwise. Great guy and excellent tour! Don't be scared, listen to Max and go because the views are breathtaking!

Segwaying is such good fun and so easy once you get used to it (which doesn't take long). Max, our guide, was friendly and knowledgeable about the area. We were in Seefeld in Tirol on a lovely sunny Sunday afternoon and after negotiating through the fairly crowded town and around the lake we were onto the tracks in the mountain forests, which are just beautiful. We stopped for refreshments at Telfs (I love that weiss bier) before returning. If you haven't tried a Segway before, give it a go - you won't be disappointed. What a great afternoon!
