Royal chatrris are located on banks of Betwa river . From Ram raja temple and Orchha fort complex this place is about 10-15 minutes walk. The entrance ticket of orcha fort complex is required to be shown here as there is no ticket counter at Royal chattris.

A not to be missed placed while visiting Orchha. Try to visit in evening as after visiting this place you can spend some time on Betwa river bank or cross the river by walk through a small bridge.

During night these chattris are lighted. Royal chattris closes at 6 pm. There is a food truck near these chattris but this food truck is selling soft drinks at rates higher than MRP.

There are 14 of these magnificent memorial buildings, all monuments to remember past rulers of the Bundelas, fierce Rajput chieftains who ruled out of their hidden city of Orchha. As so often, the buildings show a mixture of Hindu and Islamic styles, but most have Hindu spires. Only one has a Mughal fluted dome.
Guides recommend a late afternoon visit, when the light is just perfect for photography.

These are a group of 15 monuments located on the banks of the Betwa river dedicated to the Bundela kings and members of their clan. There are cenotaphs of Vir Singh Deo, Madhukar Shah, Jaswant Singh, Pahar Singh and others. The complex is very clean and the garden is well maintained. Don't forget to click pictures of the cenotaphs from just across the river during sunset.

These beautiful cenotaphs are the main reason why I visited Orchha. The entry is included in the fort ticket and you should visit it on the same day. Otherwise, there doesn't appear to be any place at the Chhatris itself to buy a ticket. We were asked by a gardener to shell out 30 bucks to see the chhatris or go get a ticket from the fort! Some Government officials on holiday were given a free-entry, of course.

While April isn’t the best time to visit Orchha, you can beat the crowds during the off season if tou can bear the heat. The monuments are beautiful. The Palaces, temples, chhatris (cenotaphs) are all beautiful and fairly well maintained. The evening light and sound program, though only a “sound” program gives one to a brief history of the place and introduces one to the local legends and folklore, making the monuments appear more attractive. A local e-rickshaw charged us Rs500 and took us to all monuments. We hired a guide and that I think is totally essential. Visit Ram raja Mandir at Arti time. Nice experience.

During our tour to Gwalior and Orchha with our daughter and son-in-law, we stayed for 2 days at Hotel Betwa retreat run by MP State tourism Corporation. We were told that the river Betwa is just a 5 minute walk, So after lunch, we walked towards Betwa river and after passing some time there we turned towards these ancient pyramid type structures seen from a distance. On going close we found these Chatris or Cenotaphs spread over a large area. Two of them were open for entry but several structures were inside a complex having a locked gate with security staff. We were told that for a visit inside, a combined ticket is available at the main fort or Jahangir Mahal. So next evening for visiting the Mahal we took a combined ticket for all these tourist sights and again visited this complex of Chatris. There are about 12 chatris within this gated complex . Two are out side this gate, that we had visited a day earlier also. The gated complex also has a well maintained garden and one is allowed to climb the steps in these structures to go on the first floor. However, the steps are very steep and being senior citizens we felt pain in our legs. At sunset, all these chatris were illuminated and the whole view was fantastic. These chatris are in fact cenotaphs made in the memory of Bundela Rajput rulers and Chieftains. A must visit place for passing an evening because many hawkers available near this complex also sell eatables, cold drinks etc. of north as well south Indian tastes.

The chhatris make this quaint city of Orchha very exciting . The chhatris are spread all over the city and adds to the beauty of this citys skyline. Not much to see inside the structures but collectively these look very impressive

Chhatris Cenotaphs are group of monuments or memorials each dedicated to one of the Bundela Kings. They are located near Kanchan ghat of Betwa river. Together they look very beautiful along with the gardens. The place offers great skyline for long distance photography specially during sunrise and sunsets. During night, these Chhatris are lit beautifully and one can spend relaxing times sitting at Ghats.

Fourteen 'Chatris' are constructed along the Kanchan Ghat of River Betwa. These were made to serve as memorials to the Bundela kings who ruled Orchha.and are of the 17th and 18th centuries. They impart a picturesque look to the River Bank and add tons to the beauty of Orchha town. There is a lovely selfie point near these where 'I Love Orchha' is boldly written.Besides the river banks, the Chhatris also dot several spots around the Fort complex. Boating at an affordable charge can be enjoyed in the river and the facility is present at the Kanchan ghat.We found the Ghats generally clean and having flat small steps. We went in winter time so enjoyed sitting & strolling about in the ghats in the sun.It felt divine and blissful.
