I've never been a big fan of rock art but this place has some wonderful examples of it. "Zoo Rock" has over 400 paintings and is a sight to behold. I liked the unusual rock firmations, too.

My family and I were looking forward to visiting Bhimbetka and we were not disappointed with the rock-shelters. The natural shape of the rocks are a wonder in themselves, add to it the paintings by the cavemen depicting the life at the time is an added bonus and makes the trip worthwhile. I enjoyed walking through the forest, and listening... More

Bhimbetka Caves, located near Bhopal at a distance of 46 km, are among the most fascinating and attention-grabbing tourist destinations in the state of Madhya Pradesh. These caves are known for their huge archeological importance in India. These caves possess a treasure of prehistoric art in the country.

Rock shelter of Bhimbetka is very good and well-preserved paintings made by cavemen. If you are in Bhopal for holidays this place should be on your itinerary.

Had no idea of what I will experience, though I had read about and religiously promoted this destination to many of my guests. I could have spend a full day or more, just gazing at this marvellous site of past with its rock formation and the rock paintings!

This an amazing place. Recommend you arrive early in the day before the crowds arrive. The natural rock formations are amazing and the the evolution of the paintings - spanning centuries - splendid. However the paintings are being damaged by water/pollution and very little is being done to protect this historic site. Although a UNESCO world heritage site, there is... More

A must visit. Go early and do take a guide - it makes a difference to have someone point out and explain things in the caves.

What an experience to learn the living man thousands of years back. The way the paintings are done are mesmerizing. The small hand of a kid is drawn showing the similar habits then too as we at kid age keep on drawing the hand on paper. Whatever the man saw, he has tried to capture it in drawing form and... More
