Unless you are a total lover of historical art please don’t go. I’m not sure if the art lovers will also like it. Very small and basic museum with nothing exceptional. They charge extra for photography which is not worth it. Please don’t pay extra for photography. It took us max 20 min to go through the entire museum. The staff is very unfriendly and disinterested. Inspite of us paying for photography they spoke rudely and said we are not allowed to click . We showed them the ticket. It was a sheer waste of time and money

Painstaking collection and well documented history of over 7000 years with photographs manuscripts,
Artifacts. The tree all the way down to the current descendent is fascinating.
A short visit is a must do in DHARAMSHALA. This is very close tk the fort.

We went to this museum on our first day at Dharmashala. I was a bit taken aback at how small the museum was; however, once we entered it, we were enamoured by its collection of the legendary Kangra Miniatures.

The level of detail on these paintings was simply astonishing.

There is also a small school-cum-workshop on the premises where you can see the artisans at work and buy some miniature paintings.

About 30 mins back down the hill from Mc Leod Ganj Lovely collection of paintings. We went at 10 am en route to our next stop so the resident artists were not there pity as we would have liked to buy a painting.

Its a must visit place for an art lover.
And worthless for those who don't have any interest in art & don't want to know about valuable culture.

Irritating to pay 100 rupees for so little. Don't bother, most of museum is blocked off and dilapidated. Half an hour is max.

A cute lil museum, though the maintenance needs to be improved. Some lovely miniatures, great old jewelry and worthwhile pottery to look at. However the descriptive placards are rudimentary and not descriptive.at all. You need a couple of hours to go through all thats on display and take my word for it, its worth it. I was there on a rainy day, and spent a worthwhile 3 hours.

Not a big museum by any standard. Has a few displays of good art and masks, coins, local handicraft etc. I am not an art enthusiast, so finished the visit in 15 odd minutes. However, if you are an art enthusiast and have a couple of hours to spare. I think you can get engrossed in the beautiful paintings and handicrafts.

Not recommended for people who don't much care about art.
