We recently returned from a 17-day trip to Uganda, which was mainly arranged by Nkuringo Safaris. We truly appreciate this extraordinary experience.

Initially, I had discussions with three different safari companies, and I chose Nkuringo because they understood our preferences from the start. Moreen patiently organized everything based on our specific requests and spent several days crafting the best itinerary. Catherine, her manager, supervised every aspect of the trip.

We opted for premium lodges, not for luxury, but for their stunning scenery and immersive atmosphere. Although these lodges were insanely expensive, most budget options in Uganda were subpar and noisy, potentially spoiling our experience. Choosing better lodges added to the cost of our trip.

What made our journey exceptional was our guide, Patrick Yiga, who became family. We instantly connected with him. He's genuine, caring, easygoing, and highly reliable. Our days were brightened by meals and memorable moments with him. Patrick surprised us with incredible experiences, protected us from tourist scams, and never took advantage of us. In some places, locals even called him Amooti, a title reserved for the most respected and upright individuals. He shared insights about wildlife and communities, arranged a beautiful birthday celebration for my wife, and helped us donate some of our items in a meaningful way.

To make the most of your time with Patrick, simply relax and appreciate the meaningful experiences he offers.

Having traveled worldwide, we've never felt as welcomed as we did by the warm-hearted people of Uganda. If you can't find joy in Uganda or with Patrick, it might be something within yourself that's hindering the warmth.

Overall, we had a fantastic time, and we're incredibly grateful for it.

The worst part to writing this review is the realization that our time spent with Patrick Yiga, our guide and now friend has come to an end. Our 18 day tailored made itinerary with Nkuringo Safaris was Epic. We travelled mostly via Land Cruiser through Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda. This review is based on the best part which was our Guide, Patrick Yiga in Uganda. Having a Guide that knows the land, the people and the environment levels up your trip and overall experience and provides a sense of peace that allows you to whole heartedly enjoy each moment without the stress of planning in real time. At the closing of each evening, we craved for every moment of that day to be on repeat, even the moment where two hippos started charging through a candlelit dinner just outside of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Patrick, will always remain our favorite part. Before this trip even ended we were already planning our next visit just to spend more time with him on safari. He greeted us each morning with a warm welcoming smile and ended each night with a burst of positivity on what was still to come. His wealth of knowledge ignited conversations and his friendly personality had us wanting his company from sunrise to sunset. To experience the best of Uganda request the best, and the best is Patrick Yiga!Thank you Patrick and the whole team for the wonderful memories, it’s not goodbye, it’s see you soon!

For part of our trip we trekked through the mountainous region of Uganda, from Gahinga to Bwindi, via Lake Mutanda and Nkuringo. Throughout this part of the trip we were accompanied by our wonderful guide (muhavara) Richard. Richard knew so much about pretty much everything - the local animals, plants and trees, the communities the country's history and culture. He's funny and friendly and looked after us incredibly well. I really recommend this way of exploring the region.

My husband and I had a week vacation, which is not a lot given all the things we wanted to do/see. Nkuringo organized our trip to make the most of this week. The trip was flawlessly organized. Time-management was perfect. They were flexible and accomodating, all our needs were met and we felt listened to, it was a truly customized experience. Our guide (Darrick) was amazing, he was knowledgable, very informative, and very flexible too! He also went above and beyond to make sure we experienced the things we were showing interest on.
We are tuly happy with Nkuringo and will recommend to friends and family.

We had previously travelled in Uganda, with Nkuringo Walking Safaris, which is part of Nkuringo Safaris, and we had a great and unique experience. Nkuringo Lodge is great and is located in one of the most amazing and beautiful places in Africa. Due to our previous experience, we contacted Nkuringo Safaris to do a short trip to Rwanda (Lake Kivu and Nyungwe National Park) and DRC (Kahuzi-Biega National Park), for 10 nights and it was the right decision. Our driver/guide Julius in Rwanda was extremely professional and always taking care of us, and our driver/guide in DRC, Martin, was an asset, extremely professional and experienced, and took really good care of us. The accomodation was great value, well chosen - Paradise Malahide in Lake Kivu, to be close to a fishing village and be able to witness the movement of the fisherman, the market and the singing, also close to one of the trails which is part of the Congo-Nile trail; Orchids Safari Club in Bukavu, DRC, a charming, safe and absolutely lovely hotel; Nyungwe Top View Hotel, with great views, great staff and lovely accomodation. The food was always delicious, all personnel was very professional and friendly. For DRC, the visa was arranged prior to our arrival and finalized while crossing the border, quite stress free.
Overall, a great experience, great value for money and for sure, the right decision to have chosen Nkuringo Safaris Uganda! We definetely recommend it!

We spent 14 days travelling around Uganda organised by Nkuringo Safaris and our guide and driver Remmy. From the moment we arrived we were looked after so well, Remmy was patient, kind and considerate and ensured our busy schedule ran like clockwork. His experience and knowledge shone through and made our game drives and excursions incredibly special. Gorilla tracking (we did both the 1 hour and 4 hour habituation) was amazing as was the Chimp tracking in the Budongo Forest. At all times we felt safe, the trackers, guides and porters were engaging and professional and made our interactions with these special animals a wonderful and joyous experience. We would recommend that you make sure you have e appropriate clothing (gaiters, boots, walking pole and gardening gloves) as well as use a Porter as the tracking can be hard work and it’s at altitude.
The lodges we stayed in were of the highest standard and each time the service was exemplary and genuine. The boat trip down the Kazinga Channel was incredible as was the two trips down the Nile to see the Delta and Murchison Falls.
The Ivy Trail and walks with Richard were also fascinating and provided the chance for us to see the incredible array of birds, butterflies and animals that inhabit these incredible forests. We would like to pass on our sincere thanks to Lydia and Cathy and the whole team at Nkuringo Safaris and to Remmy for making our trip so special. The memories will stay with us for ever.

My wife and I booked this tailor made trip trip with great anticipation to see Mountain gorillas and the enormous Ugandan Birdlife combined with a lot of walking. From the 1st moment on when we met our guide Patrick Yiga we knew we were in good hands and we had made the right choice to come to Uganda. Patrick guided us through the whole 14 days of our custom trip with great ease and made us very comfortable paying attention to the smallest details. The organisation had put together an itinerary along 5 different lodges so we had ample possibilities to see not only the amazing mountain gorillas but also other wildlife and birdlife with some great walking experiences with the assistance of experienced birding guides. Nkuringo lodge has to be mentioned as an exceptional lodge as all the staff were very focused to give us a great time and they went the extra mile to make us feel special. Great stuff! Uganda has been an amazing experience with the loveliest people and the biggest smiles but it was Patrick who was the glue of it all and made the whole experience extra special. Only thing we would do different next time is stay longer in some of the lodges so we have more quality time. Thank so much for all your efforts.

My brother, friend Henry and my self had been dreaming of seeing mountain gorillas since we were 13 years old. It was the MOST incredible experience of our lives. I highly recommend going the extra mile and booking the un-habituated gorillas as it's more intimate. Our guide, Patrick Yiga was such a legend- picking us up at 5am and being so accommodating in getting us from A-B. He knows so much about them and made our experience mega! Will be doing it again 100%.

My husband & I have been fortunate enough to travel to many countries in the world. To us, Uganda is quite simply the most beautiful country on earth. It truly is the pearl of Africa. Why? Uganda offers stunning scenery (mountains, volcanoes, crater lakes, swamps, savannahs, forests), incredible wildlife experiences (gorillas, chimps, golden monkeys, safaris, birds galore!) and the people are so warm and kind. We booked our trip from the UK through an excellent company called Rainbow Tours. They arranged the trip with the local company NKURINGO safaris, based in Uganda. When we arrived in Uganda we were welcomed by Cathy & Arshley from NKURINGO safaris. Both of whom were very professional, knowledgeable & friendly. They provided a comprehensive overview of our two week itinerary. Arshley Brian was our guide/driver for the trip and he was truly excellent! Friendly, funny, punctual, helpful and he was exceptionally good at identifying hundreds of different birds! On our trip we travelled in a private safari jeep. All the lodges we stayed in were beautiful, with excellent service and delicious food. We started our trip in Entebbe. On day 1 we went to the swamps of lake Victoria in search of shoebills. We then moved on to Kibale forest region for chimpanzee trekking (a troop of chimps walked right up to us!), a community experience & a wetland walk - all brilliant experiences. We then went on to Queen Elizabeth National Park for safari drives (two hyenas came up to our jeep!) and a lovely private boat ride along the Kazinga Channel, we saw so many hippos & elephants and much more! We went to Bwindi, where we did a fab walk through the forest to our next stunning lodge! We spent an hour with the mountain gorillas in the Nkuringo sector (Christmas group). It was amazing!! We saw about 8 gorillas including the silverback, juveniles and a baby! Then on to lake Mutanda for a dug out canoe ride in search of otters. Then to Mgahinga for golden monkey trekking and the challenging Mt Sabyinyo Hike (three country/border hike). In Lake Mburo we went on a boat ride and saw so many fish eagles. We also did some fantastic safari drives and a bike ride amongst the zebras. We saw bush babies at our lodge and fell asleep to the sound of wild animals. We returned to Entebbe and visited Ngamba Island Chimpanzee sanctuary, where we saw about 25 chimps all of whom had been rescued. Our trip was absolutely incredible and we were so well looked after by NKURINGO safaris!! I would highly recommend using this company!!

As a family of 4 we absolutely loved our hike and guided canoe with our hiking guide, Richard. We hiked from the junction below Nkuringo Lodge to Lake Mutanda and then enjoyed a canoe trip on the lake from there. Richard was very knowledgeable and it was one of our very favourite experiences of our trip. We would definitely recommend you take the time to do this as you get to experience the most fabulous scenery and rural life in Uganda in foot.

The walk through the villages and Bwindi Forest is quite renewing. It's our pioneer experience and we're delighted you had a great time. Thank you so much for leaving your thoughts. I hope we can get you and your friends to come back.
