The information people were helpful with maps, advice, and a coupon for free wifi throughout the city, but there was more. Their shop had various products including local sake at reasonable prices. A restaurant (the kind where you buy a ticket for the food you want from a machine then give it to a worker who makes it for you) was at the back of the room. We ended up having lunch there and spending more than an hour in that center.

Walk inside of the rail way station until the end at the north exit. Very good information. They offer maps on how to go to asahidake and sunkoyo onsen areas. With time tables for the bus and small walking maps.

Helpful, knowledgeable staff who speak English. Several local attraction gems not found on the internet actually made our visit to the area something special.

Fujita san was so helpful, great English, and provided us with all the information we required. We bought bus tickets ahead of time using cash for Asahi-dake, but it turned out that on our day of travel, it was a free day. Fujita san tracked us down in the queue for the bus and duly returned our money. You have to admire the honesty and tenacity of the Japanese. Such a delight. Thank you so much for all your help Fujita san

Not only does it have brochures in English, there is a section for Korean and Thai. There is an extensive souvenir section, plus a cafe, and plsces to sit. I also saw a big departure board display and multiple staff ready to help.
