I visited the park in the late afternoon on 6 October 2019 (Sunday). It is generally a family friendly park, as there were small groups of families and individuals who were at the park doing a stroll, rowing a boat at the lake or simply walking their pets around the park, all giving a relaxed feel to the area. It is not a big area so it can be covered easily under an hour. But in the early autumn season under the late afternoon sun, the park has several ideal photo taking spots. I was not familiar with the public transport to get to the park, so instead took a walk from Asahikawa train station. The leisure walk to the park entrance via the Heiwa Street shopping park took around 20 minutes.

I was born and brought up in this town, and spent a lot of time in the park until I was a high school student. This is a fountain of philosophical thought and contemplation of life of Asahikawa citizen. Decades ago, the park was an isolated island in Ishikari River and the park pond was the remnant of a segment of the river..
