Great little museum, original building from early 1900's and wonderful displays of old photos and samples of clothing, skis, dugouts, art and tools! Woman in charge does needle traditional needlework and is very nice!

It's a small museum, but very informative and also run by an Ainu man. There are some English language signs and leaflets. The buildings are in traditional Ainu style. Get a number 24 bus from the city centre which costs 190 yen each way to get to the museum. The bus driver kindly let us know which was the right stop, and showed us the museum's direction.

having spent 2 weeks travelling around Hokkaido this was the best and most informative of the various Ainu attractions. quite tricky to find as on a side street - we used google maps plus the visitor map.
